scott_harpell Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Bill Clinton. Prayers are with you in your upcomming surgery. Quote
slothrop Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 He'll have to cut down on the foie gras and fried chicken after this. And better watch out for overly exciting encounters with the young ladies! Quote
rbw1966 Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 No more smoking either. Oh wait, he didn't use the cigar for smoking. Quote
murraysovereign Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 This news came as a bit of a surprise - the last couple of times I've seen him on the tv talk-show book-flog circuit he looked to be in great shape. He's lost a good deal of weight, seemed really energetic and upbeat, and was basically the picture of good health. Quote
foraker Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 I'm sure there's a bad joke about 'taking a licking' and 'keeps on ticking' here.... Quote
scott_harpell Posted September 3, 2004 Author Posted September 3, 2004 I can't believe you people are making so many jokes about this. He very well could die. I could chalk up the Reagan jokes to political bantering, but this is pure idiocy. Again... have some class. Quote
iain Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 As usual, you are head and shoulders above everyone in class. Don't you have some newspapers to read? Or at least some other thread in which to proclaim your tv-free intellectual lifestyle? Quote
bunglehead Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 He has to cut down on the Foie Gras? Man that sucks for him. that's a delicious dish if it's prepared right. Quote
slothrop Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Yeah, screw you guys! The classy thing to do would be to get together with our "redneck friends" to laugh at "granolas" getting beaten by police at some protest. Good times, and Jesus would approve, too. That guy was always going to stonings 'n shit back in the day. Quote

Or at least some other thread in which to proclaim your tv-free intellectual lifestyle? Â As usual Iaiaiain, you use ad hominim methods to belittle those with differing view points. Do you have cause to disagree with something I have said in this thread? If so, now is the chance. If you are merely clearing your pre-pubescent voice, we understand and will await your next squeak. Quote
iain Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Well, it's ad hominem, but you do get some additional snobbery points for an attempt, though you try to use it too often. Â Differing viewpoints? No I agree bypass surgery is pretty serious. But all I see when you make comments like those above is a snotty little brat who thinks he knows the world because he went on some college field trip to eastern Europe once. Now go back to arguing with veterans about how the Vietnam War really was. It's fairly entertaining. Quote
scott_harpell Posted September 3, 2004 Author Posted September 3, 2004 What comments? Like the ones that imply that a possibly dying president should be given some respect? Oh Iain, I am so sorry for this transgression. What an asshole I am. Your attempted character assasinations have nothing to do with the fact that you are disrespecting our former leader. Please give him his due respect. Quote
scott_harpell Posted September 3, 2004 Author Posted September 3, 2004 I can always tell when you are off guard because you resort to typographical errors in my posts. Have a nice day Iain and try to enjoy life. It is far too short to worry about my spelling or where we differ politically. Quote
slothrop Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Since Bill Clinton is known for being such a humorless, brooding man, clearly the only thing to do is bow our heads and pray. If you laugh at death, one can only imagine the lack of searing existential pain that you will experience on your deathbed. Quote
iain Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 I guess basically what I meant was shut up for awhile, you talk too much. Â And that is coming from someone who posts on here way too often. Quote

If you laugh at death, one can only imagine the lack of searing existential pain that you will experience on your deathbed. Â It is one thing to laugh at your own demise, but to assume the role for another seems rather tactless. Quote
slothrop Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Jeez, man, relax! Have a , kick a "granola", whatever it takes. Quote
dmin Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Could someone just point out where ian disrespected our former leader? And didn't give him his due respect? What are you talking about scott? Quote
rbw1966 Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 "clearing your pre-pubescent voice. . " is not a personal attack? Â You're a hypocrite Scott. Quote
scott_harpell Posted September 3, 2004 Author Posted September 3, 2004 If you guys want to jump on my for standing up for a president that is in the hospital, so be it. I was just pointing out that you might want to look at weather you would feel bad if tomorrow you found out he was dead and instead of wishing him luck, you were talking about his most embarassing exploits. If you don't care, then I suppose it is your perogative, but I just thought I would add some perspective. Flame away! Quote
IceIceBaby Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Politically I was appose to some of his deeds but as human no one should have to suffer like that wishes for swift recovery and best health you are good man but questionable politician Quote
Lars Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 the far left didnt have anything to say about repecting the president when reagan died. funny how they change their tune when its clintons turn to go. Quote
scott_harpell Posted September 3, 2004 Author Posted September 3, 2004 They didn't... I am a conservative. I got berated for sticking up for Reagan too. Quote
EWolfe Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 There's a joke about Clinton getting excited when his female doctor started talking about "acute angina"... Quote
slothrop Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Lars, be careful! Don't let your knee hit you in the face when it jerks. Â And show some respect for Bill! Quote
