Greg_W Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Anything Abbot and Costello. Just saw "Dummy" last night; kinda quirky, but funny. Quote
Off_White Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Koyaanisqatsi uhm... that is not a comedy. nor is koyanisquatsi or nayquoiquatsi. I think Chirp was responding to Layton's offering of Happiness as a comedy. If you found that film funny, you might try Affliction. Quote
Dru Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 "A Chinese Ghost Story" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/6305020876/002-8634975-0684064?v=glance This is not only obscure and funny it's one of my favorite films of all time. Especially the poorly translated subtitles! Quote
klenke Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Two totally noir French comedies starring a young Gerard Depardieu that I found quite funny: Get out your Handkerchiefs (1978). Oscar winner for best foreign film. Outrageous theme and plot. Buffet Froid (1979) about hapless murderers. A total hoot this movie. Other good comedies: The Horse's Mouth starring Alec Guiness (1956-British) Jour de Fete (1949-French) about a bicycle postman who tries to modernize delivery but with slapstick results. Very Buster Keaton like. Go Tell the Spartans (1978) starring Burt Lancaster. Comedy-drama about the insanities of the beginning of the Vietnam war. There are always others I could recommend but these are a good start. Quote
ken4ord Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Il Monstro (The Monster) is so fucking funny Roberto Benini, is believed to be a serial killer he observed so that they can prove he is. Johny Stecchino (Johny toothpick) again Roberto Benini, He looks like a mafioso type character, when in reality he is a bus driver. Dellacatessin is dark comedy about the people that live in a building that house a dellacatessin. Quote
