chucK Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 ***WARNING**** Â Don't click on Scott's link above, unless you want a bunch of delayed-action pop-up crap asking you to buy domains and such. Â Thanks Scott. Quote
chucK Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 (edited) When I turn that thing on, it deactivates all the cc.com animated gremlins. I can't have that! Â Â EDIT: Oh wait, I just tried the Google popup blocker and I can still see movement!! Hurrah! I must have been thinking of zone-alarm. Can't even see the icons when that thing is on. Â Thanks Cracky Edited May 22, 2004 by chucK Quote

scott_harpell Posted May 22, 2004 Author Posted May 22, 2004 It used to be the most kick ass blog ever... a special ed teacher talking trash about her SPEDs... You know you are going to hell laughing at it, but you just can't help it. I guess it got disconnected. ... oh and what pop ups... get outta the stone age and get opera! Quote
cracked Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 I just got Opera. But I'm not sure what to think of it yet. But I do like its saving of passwords, quite convenient. Quote
scott_harpell Posted May 22, 2004 Author Posted May 22, 2004 Once you figure out all the quick key features and such you will be amazed and never go back. Read a tutorial and you will see some of the possibilities. Quote
snoboy Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Read a tutorial  Like this one.  Scott, maybe you're not so bad after all.        Quote
marylou Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Opera is not just nice music, it's a nice browser too. Quote
JoshK Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Well, my several day experiment with Opera has ended with the removal and purging of it from my computer. Too much junk on the screen. I just want my simple browser back. I give them credit...much faster (and correct) layout than most of the alternative browsers, but I'm still not too impressed. I think it's still at the level of "well, it's not microsoft" but not actually better in any way. Â My 2 cents. Quote

JoshK Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 In what ways is it so much better? I am not arguing as I am open to trying something different, but I just didn't see what I got in return for an extra piece of software on my computer. Quote
snoboy Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Check out my link 8 posts up. Â Tabbed browsing is way better for me. Â I also like to be able to resume where I left off... Â I can save a set of windows as a session and go back there any time I want. Â I can have a folder full of bookmarks, and open them all at once with a few keystrokes. Great for getting all your weather links in one place. Â Nicknames for Bookmarks rule. I type "cc" and the last 25 posts come up instantly. I type "sw" and I have the weather report... Â No PopUps. Â Built in Google (and other) searches. Â Download manager that allows you to resume downloads. Â I like the Email client, many don't though. Â "Notes" are a handy feature. Â I like being able to modify menus so that things are where I want to see them. eg. I put a "Closed" window option into the right click on pagebar menu. Let's me reopen windows that I have closed... Â "Spatial Navigation" is great when you are using a laptop with no mouse and you hate those little touchpad thingys. Â Being able to remove page formatting with one click, or a keystroke is very useful for those awful websites that have (for example) yellow text on a black background. Â If I was on dial-up the option to not load images (or load them selectively) would get used a lot. Â "Zoom" zooms the whole page, not just the text. Â Try dragging an image from a page onto the pagebar... Cool huh? Â Middle click to open page in background... couldn't live without it any more. Â Mouse gestures for back and forward... Â That's a few of the things I like. Quote
JoshK Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Cool, I'll check those features out. Â Finding out BillG supports Bush's re-election has renewed my interest in using something else Quote
