catbirdseat Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 We were looking straigth up at your route yesterday from the top of Pinnacle peak. Gib Ledges looked pretty good from there. You nailed the weather for sure. There was a faint lenticular up there. It was hard to say how much wind there was- at least some from the north. Whether successful or not, please post a TR. Quote
Alex_Mineev Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Hiked to the Beehive that day, made some pictures:  Nisqually Ice Cliff click here to see fullsize  Gibraltar Ledges click here to see fullsize  Sun shining thru the cloud Quote
skyclimb Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Great shots! Helpful for many route selections. Quote
Billygoat Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Alex, In the "Gib Ledges" photo, is that the beehive close to the right or further up ahead, top center? Â Thanks for the great shots! Â Â Girlclimber, Did you go for it?! I'm going in April, let me know... Quote
Alex_Mineev Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 See red arrow on the attached image (image is not mine). Pictures are made on the Nisqually side of the crest. Quote
Billygoat Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 I got that your photos were from the Nisqually side. And now, with that shot from the Cowlitz side just above Muir, I can surmise that the point top center and below Gib Rock in your 2nd photo is the point behind which one would rap down onto the Ledges. So, in your 2nd photo, one cannot quite see the Ledges, right? You can see the top where it meets Gib Chute. I am just trying to picture the route.  Thanks  BG Quote
Alex_Mineev Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 I regret that I did not climb closer to make route-line clearer. I think you do not need to rap down, probably just downclimb or traverse along the rock to the snow slope that meets the upper part of the Gib chute. I think Girlclimber can draw the line. Quote
