EWolfe Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 (edited) Somewhere between the short days and the holidays, pacing manically in a too-big apartment I realized I had room for a bouldering cave. No more than 150 square feet, but enough to burn the abs and keep in the game. Wit the help of my friend Brian, we started saturday morning. After a couple of hours, it was coming together: Experimenting with a small formation on the tall end seemed like a good way to fill an unstable corner: Brian helped me set the rest of the panels for this phase, andthe holds start to go up: The end of phase 1: 8 feet wide, 12 foot roof with a 3 foor stub wall at the low end. When the formation goes in and I stabilize the wing, I can put in a 16' boulder problem. Phase two next week. Edited January 11, 2004 by MisterE Quote
EWolfe Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 Finished the column on the right corner today, added bracing, beefed up the wing and added some small panels for feet: total square footage: 160 sq feet of ab-burnin' crankage!!! I am sure the neighbors downstairs were wondering what the hell was going on this weekend Visitors are welcome! Quote
pope Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Several years ago, I found a place that sold T-nuts by the box for $6. They are tedious to install because they're held in place with three tiny screws, but they'll never fall out behind the wall. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 You guys kill me. When ya having Trading Spaces come in for a makeover? Quote

Bronco Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 I bet your neighbors would be more concerned about a serious bongo session than a good bouldering sesion. Quote

rr666 Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 Right on! That looks great. Amazing what one can do when the days are short and the weather is shit. I'll bring the chalk, let's go! Quote
