cj001f
Don't think I ever read anything by Joyce. Start with Finnegan's Wake.

cj001f
Portrait of the artist as a young man. Joyce is very difficult. Indeed! I question whether anyone has truly understood all(or any!) of Finnegan's Wake. Dubliners isn't too bad.

scrambled_legs
Where and When can I catch this film in Canada, eh??? Â Best book I ever read... does the movie do it any justice? I read it while sitting at home with a broken leg, couldn't imagine crawling through the alpine with two of them. Just imagine what he would've done for some T3 and beer about then eh? Â Anyone with times/dates/locations in Vancouver, let me know!
cj001f
At Reed there was a semester-long course devoted solely to Ulysses. The Readers guide to Finnegan's Wake is twice as long as the book itself. A quark! A quark!
catbirdseat
Where and When can I catch this film in Canada, eh??? Best book I ever read... does the movie do it any justice? Well, let me put it this way. Some of the people I have talked to made it sound like the Second Coming.
scott_harpell
Where and When can I catch this film in Canada, eh??? Â If you find out, lets get a PubClub afterwards eh?
scrambled_legs
PubClub it is... wonder if Joe ever thought that people would be watching a movie about the hell that he was going through and then laughing about it over a few drinks
girlclimber
I read it while sitting at home with a broken leg, couldn't imagine crawling through the alpine with two of them. girlclimber
this REI page says Joe's presentation will start at 7:30, but there's "a special climbing competition" that begins at 6:

setnei
Just saw the man at REI tonight... Lots of people, and Joe signed lots of autographs... Â Seemed like a nice guy, good sense of humor, and was pretty forthright in how the whole experience has changed him and how lucky he's been in the way his life's gone since Peru. Â The climbing comp was a speed match between pairs up the rock - if you stayed to watch, you probably didn't get in to see the presentation- the line to get into the conference room was reminiscent of the old garage sale lines out on the sidewalk... Â Fun evening, and looking forward to the film.

marylou
The new book, The Beckoning Silence is languishing half-read, next to my bed. I haven't picked it up in at least a month. Not the riveting read that Touching the Void is, IMO.
