catbirdseat
The power went out last night. My car was encased in a capsule of ice this morning. The cherry tree in my back yard had icicles hanging from every limb, and the sound of breaking branches sounded periodically in the neighborhood. This is the first time in 14 years living here that I've seen it like this. I hear it is much more common in Portland.
sk
we ahve not had so much ice and freezing rain in Eugene for 20 years melting now
b-rock
I want to know why I'm the only motherfucker at work today. Every other moron here lives like 3 miles away and drives Ford Expeditions and such. Christ.
catbirdseat
They should be held accountable if they don't show up today. Slackers.
b-rock
Ya and only two of us yesterday. Though I gave my boss shit for not coming in after one of the pre-new years snows, and he turns around on the next storm and rolls his truck. Ooops. iain
I'm at work today so I can tell my future kids I did intentional donuts at the I-5/217 interchange haha love it when there's no one on the road. I was thinking of biking to work on I-5, but thought better of it with this crappy breakable crust.

tomtom
i rode my bike in yesterday and today. Me too. The ride in yesterday (fresh snow) and today (slush) was ok, the ride home was a bitch (ice). Brakes didn't work, and when they did, the bike skidded our from under me.

iain
that sucks. The Wells Fargo tower could collapse today and it would still not make the news, relegated to later in the newscast so they can show some dumbass reporter slipping around out on burnside bitching about how cold it is, maybe throw in some more footage of a expedition peeling out in a parking lot. Ducknut
i am getting of tired of seeing reporters standing on i-84 in Troutdale getting pelted by wind blown snow. New forecast freezing rain through tomorrow
iain
I have NEVER understood that. "Joe here reporting live from the Timberline parking lot that the DAYCARE is closed today so come pick up your kids."
Stonehead
Joe must be the low guy on the totem pole, sent there by some higher up sitting in a warm office. Either that or he's a cub reporter determined to show his persistence. Yeah right.
iain
I'm sure he's the guy sent to the chain-up areas to report on road conditions too. Then it's off to Florida for hurricane season to get the pacific n.w. angle. Poor guy.
iain
"Here's Bob, he lived in Portland for 5 years before moving out here to Florida for retirement, and man is his RV taking a pounding right now" (ducking roofing shingles as he speaks) "Bob, Joe from KGW...do you miss Portland?"
