catbirdseat Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 The power went out last night. My car was encased in a capsule of ice this morning. The cherry tree in my back yard had icicles hanging from every limb, and the sound of breaking branches sounded periodically in the neighborhood. This is the first time in 14 years living here that I've seen it like this. I hear it is much more common in Portland. Quote
sk Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 we ahve not had so much ice and freezing rain in Eugene for 20 years melting now Quote
b-rock Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I want to know why I'm the only motherfucker at work today. Every other moron here lives like 3 miles away and drives Ford Expeditions and such. Christ. Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 7, 2004 Author Posted January 7, 2004 They should be held accountable if they don't show up today. Slackers. Quote
b-rock Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Ya and only two of us yesterday. Though I gave my boss shit for not coming in after one of the pre-new years snows, and he turns around on the next storm and rolls his truck. Ooops. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 catturd said, blah, blah, blah... hey turdburger, is that one of your old lady's falsies hangin' from the tree? Quote
iain Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I'm at work today so I can tell my future kids I did intentional donuts at the I-5/217 interchange haha love it when there's no one on the road. I was thinking of biking to work on I-5, but thought better of it with this crappy breakable crust. Quote
lI1|1! Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 i rode my bike in yesterday and today. i'm fucking stupid. Quote
b-rock Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 what do i care its all cc and pr0n today anyways Quote
tomtom Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 i rode my bike in yesterday and today. Me too. The ride in yesterday (fresh snow) and today (slush) was ok, the ride home was a bitch (ice). Brakes didn't work, and when they did, the bike skidded our from under me. Quote
Ducknut Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I was thinking of putting the crampons just to walk the dogs. got falling doug fir branches raining down around my house Quote
b-rock Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Ha, heard the roof on the YMCA off Barbur just fell in. Hope everyone's alright. Quote
iain Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 that sucks. The Wells Fargo tower could collapse today and it would still not make the news, relegated to later in the newscast so they can show some dumbass reporter slipping around out on burnside bitching about how cold it is, maybe throw in some more footage of a expedition peeling out in a parking lot. Quote
Ducknut Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 i am getting of tired of seeing reporters standing on i-84 in Troutdale getting pelted by wind blown snow. New forecast freezing rain through tomorrow Quote
iain Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I have NEVER understood that. "Joe here reporting live from the Timberline parking lot that the DAYCARE is closed today so come pick up your kids." Quote
Stonehead Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Joe must be the low guy on the totem pole, sent there by some higher up sitting in a warm office. Either that or he's a cub reporter determined to show his persistence. Yeah right. Quote
iain Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I'm sure he's the guy sent to the chain-up areas to report on road conditions too. Then it's off to Florida for hurricane season to get the pacific n.w. angle. Poor guy. Quote
iain Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 "Here's Bob, he lived in Portland for 5 years before moving out here to Florida for retirement, and man is his RV taking a pounding right now" (ducking roofing shingles as he speaks) "Bob, Joe from KGW...do you miss Portland?" Quote
whirlwind Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 i secound that its fun as hell drivin in the snow specaly when no one else is on the road, the van handles like a champ in most places, didn't even put on chains. Quote
whirlwind Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 come to think of it the only thing i really worry about is some other dumb ass hittin me Quote
