mneagle Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Alta has had 72 inches so far with a 34-43 inch base and 22 fresh in the last 2 days! We did some snowshoeing up Big Cottonwood Canyon Sunday and the powder was deep, dry and amazingly untouched in the back country. This is only the 8th time since opening that Park City is opening before Thanksgiving. We have all the makings for a banner year. Quote
scot'teryx Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Baker has a 45 inch base, we'll catch up before you know it Quote
E-rock Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 What the hell were you doing snowshoeing? Quote
splittoe Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 I'll be in Park city this weekend > 90 inches of powder since oct 30th at Alta... Baker's got 10 inches of cascade cement last night... Quote
freeclimb9 Posted November 18, 2003 Posted November 18, 2003 Check the Utah ski report for updated snow depths. Alta reports 45 inches. And today has been incredibly sunny and quite warm, so that base will shrink. IMHO, early season snow is like early season ice: dulls the tools, but keeps the form intact. Quote

I'd rather have a ton of cement for the first few weeks of the season then cover it up with powder than the other way around. I think this has the makings of a good year all over the west. This weekend could also be good now that we have a good base dump with snow levels going to 500 feet or 1k. Quote

Touray Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Like Josh has said before, we will laugh at you when we have a 100 feet of concrete and you have 12 inches of flush in Feb Quote
