TIGHE Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 my work is sending me to South Korea for three weeks. Has anyone ever been? Anyone care to share any travel advice? Quote
TIGHE Posted November 9, 2003 Author Posted November 9, 2003 Everyone keeps telling me that the food over there is really good. But I agree kim chee is definitely an acquired taste. Quote
Gordonb Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Kim chee is one of those foods that is really good, or really awful. There is a restaurant in Lacey that make really good kim chee. You have to like spicy food, and if you can eat hot stuff, good kim chee is wonderfull. Quote
catbirdseat Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 My brother was stationed in Seoul for a year with the Air Force. He called it, "the Land of the Not-Quite Right". Quote

Dru Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 City = Seoul where I assume you will be flying in/out from? Quote
specialed Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 I read a National Geo article about North Korea. There were some pics of a state park there with AWESOME looking granite cliffs, called Kumdick park or something funny like that. Problem is even if you are a north korean national you have to be like a triple communist with a bad Elvis-style haircut to go there, so probably not gunna help you out. Quote
bunglehead Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 2 things: 1. hehe...you said "kumdick" B. Dru, if you're in a calabi Yau manifold, how are you able to post like you're in a regular dimension? Huh, Mr smart guy? Quote

bunglehead Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 That's a pretty big cross section!! Quote
Dru Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 well - one four dimensional entity can actually appear to be many three dimensional entities at once (imagine a cross section of an octopus through the tentacles) and this explains all my avatars and I posting simultaneously. Quote
bunglehead Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Riiiiiggghhhhhht..... So in like, 3 dimensions, a hyper cube actually looks like and AMC Pacer or something like that? Quote

bunglehead Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Umm.... I uh, actually don't know a whole lot about Koreans. Maybe some sign with really bad english on it? Quote
Peter_Puget Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 I have been to Korea on business and in very few words here is my beta:  1 It can be freakin‘ coldthis time of year. 2 I hate Korean food - pack some snacks. 3 Don’t drive. 4 Korean women are beautiful. 5 If you go out with young locals -be careful of getting too drunk and acting like a fool.  Quote
