anyone know a good program for Windows 2000 that lets you convert song files from windows media player copied of a cd to mp3 format (that doesn't cost anything, shareware or ..."other wink.gif")

musicmatch jukebox came free with my computer and does stuff like that that win media player won't wave.gif

 

but it doesn't have the cool random graphics display like wmp. mushsmile.gif

The winamp MP3 converter sucks ass! The best one out there you have to buy but it's worth the coin.

 

I used the trial version when I was looking for one, and it was really smooth. After you have it installed you just have to right click on your music and a pull-down lists the possible conversions you can perform.

I would convert from WMA to MP3 (or vice versa) as you'll end up losing a good bit of quality. If you can get the original source again, any of the CD-ripping MP3 programs people have listed will work. Also, why bother? WMA is a better format for the filesize anyway.
