layton Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 anyone know a good program for Windows 2000 that lets you convert song files from windows media player copied of a cd to mp3 format (that doesn't cost anything, shareware or ..."other ") Quote
Dru Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 musicmatch jukebox came free with my computer and does stuff like that that win media player won't but it doesn't have the cool random graphics display like wmp. Quote

Stonehead Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 You could try winamp homepage link to download free winamp though you might have other problems with Digital Rights Management Quote
E-rock Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 The winamp MP3 converter sucks ass! The best one out there you have to buy but it's worth the coin. I used the trial version when I was looking for one, and it was really smooth. After you have it installed you just have to right click on your music and a pull-down lists the possible conversions you can perform. web page Quote
Crackbolter Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 mkw audio compression is the best for a variety of formats. It also accepts drag and drop. Quote
Ursa_Eagle Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 I know it's shareware, but I figured I'd chime in anyway. I use Easy CDDA Extractor (it also comes with a converter) http://www.poikosoft.com/ It's easy to use and does a great job (I use it for ripping CD's, it automatically puts in all title/track info) Quote
JoshK Posted October 30, 2003 Posted October 30, 2003 I would convert from WMA to MP3 (or vice versa) as you'll end up losing a good bit of quality. If you can get the original source again, any of the CD-ripping MP3 programs people have listed will work. Also, why bother? WMA is a better format for the filesize anyway. Quote
