Perseverance A Slide Show/Talk with Climber Alan Kearney Tuesday, October 7, 7 p.m. Patagonia 2100 First Avenue, Seattle Alan Kearney and climbing partner Brendan Cusick pioneered a new route up the last major unclimbed buttress on Mount Combatant in B.C.'s Coast Range. Mount Combatant stands among such impressive mountains as Waddington and Tiedemann in an area reminiscent of a miniature Karakoram. Their 29-pitch, Grade VI climb took three-and-a-half days in a region known for its unpredictable weather and huge alpine faces. Besides being a climber, Alan is a professional photographer whose work has seen print in Climbing, Rock & Ice and the Patagonia catalog. Bummer I didn't find out who he was until later as I was in too much of a hurry on the trail. I am sure the show will be great.
