allthumbs Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 I'm comin' clean. I'm a backpacker and scrambler, not a true climber. I try not to pose as a climber and if I have, I'm sorry. I'm interested in all the same shit y'all are, and I was born to spray, so here I am. I'm too old and chickenshit to really climb the way you guys do, although I've do jump in my crampons to cross snowed in ridges and shit to get where I'm goin'. I'll scramble up till I get scared and stop to roll a fatty and take in the view. So I'll probably never see the summit. My loss. Anyway, that's my story. If you guys want me to split...say so and I'll be gone. I'd like to hang around. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: trask ] Quote
panther Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 Ok I have to admit something too. My real name is not Panther... Quote
DPS Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 You must not judge yourself by the summits you have attained or how hard you climb but rather by how hard you spray. Quote

allthumbs Posted January 10, 2002 Author Posted January 10, 2002 Speaking of Dru, how's he get so freakin' much time off anyway. Y'all sure he's not actually retired. ...that's retired, not retarded. Quote

Lambone Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 It's not about "seeing the summit," it's all about enjoying what you run in to along the way...and bitching at your partners on the way back down! Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 Everyone has some limits. I backed off scrambles more than once. Who cares. Just doob it Quote
Dennis_the_Menace Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 Never, never say too old (or too late) Climb on Quote
icegirl Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 This reminds me a bit of the story; "Voice of Dissent - Dr. Doom disses traditional values" From Kiss or Kill by Mark TwightConfessions of a serial climber Highly recommended reading. Quote
