icegirl Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 dry-tooling... or hearing climbing terms out of context... Heard in the Operating Room of a local trauma center one night, after a person was saved by a chief resident's quick hands, technical excellence, and just being damn good ... Anesthesiologist: How'd that lady do from early tonight?? Surgeon: She's Bomber, man... Anesthesiologist: Bomber? sorry to hear that... Me playing translator: she's just fine, it's a climbing term for "rock solid" Anesthesiologist: Oh... uh... glad to hear it... Quote
Copperhead Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 I've always got a juvenile thrill out using the term 'Rack'. Even if you've just introduced youselves, Climbers don't mind if you ask them if they have a nice one. If they really do have a nice one, they are always willing to show it to you and let you use it. MysticNacho Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 I've always had a juvenile chuckle with the term "nuts." "How many nuts do you have on YOUR rack, eh?" "Why, that's a nice set of nuts there!" "My nuts are old and worn, I should probably get a new set of nuts." "My rack of nuts is larger than yours." But then theres always: "Hey man, nice nuts. Can I borrow them?" Chuckle chuckle har de har har. sigh... [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: MysticNacho ] Quote
Charlie Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 I dyno'ed for one of her slopers, I then found a bomber two- finger pocket. I traversed around the backside to a greasy lieback. I then applyied a heel-hook, followed by a mantle, leading to a climactic finish. The descent was very strenuous, involving a lot of bushwacking [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Charlie ] [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Charlie ] Quote
Doug Posted January 6, 2002 Posted January 6, 2002 Sheesh Charlie, this ain't that kind of internet site, or at least it wasn't while you were out of town. How was J-Tree? Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted January 7, 2002 Posted January 7, 2002 I have gotten many laughs with the term BOHIC. (Bend Over Here It Comes). This is a military term with an obvious meaning. Some climbers I know have aplied it to bad wether. This term can be modified as folows: BOHICED, paste tence BOHICING,present tense, BOHICER (an ugly looking cloud aboot to ruin your climb) or cumulobohicus. Quote
Fromage Posted January 7, 2002 Posted January 7, 2002 favorite term: CHOP acronym for CHeapskate Objectivity Paralysis You suffer from CHOP if you are so concerned about leaving gear behind that you rappel off a #4 stopper/manky fixed piton/faded frayed webbing, etc. Quote
IceIceBaby Posted January 7, 2002 Posted January 7, 2002 Hay man,I cant find them, but did you see my LOWE BALLS ,they were dangling next to my NUTS maybe I should use my PIN here but this CRACK doesn’t look wide enough to take it any way. it does look like the CRACK is opening up and it might take a SCREW a little way up the middle of the CRACK any way I think I’m going all the way UP IT. It looks like it will take FINGERS almost all the way up. Doesn't looks good I just hope it doesn't COME DOWN on me [ 01-07-2002: Message edited by: IceIceBaby ] Quote
Dru Posted January 7, 2002 Author Posted January 7, 2002 there used to be a climb at skaha called "i saw you put your nuts in your mouth" but that cliff is closed now. Quote
G-spotter Posted January 7, 2002 Posted January 7, 2002 I like "take" because it sounds like "toke". "Oh shit. TAKE!!!!""Oh wow, ok dude {ssssssssuckkkkkk} - whoa dude, way to fall like that and harsh on my hit!" Quote

Dru Posted January 7, 2002 Author Posted January 7, 2002 Personally I think "two banana" is the best user name so far. Quote

two_banana Posted January 9, 2002 Posted January 9, 2002 I only wish I was the one who coined the 'nic! Quote
