And yes, I use a 4x4 for work regularly, and we're not on the typical USFS road. He knows from our little discussion back then that I may well go offroad as part of my work. Â Jim's a socialist who has a case of 'capitalist envy.' Â And I don't agree that 99% of trailheads don't warrant a 4x4 (or at least a 2wd pickup). I damn near destroyed a rental car one day last summer in CO getting up a trailhead... Quote

Here I am all happy with a new vehicle, and he wants to say I was 'lying' about the politics of groundwater and that I don't use my vehicle offroad for work. Okay, buddy, whatever. The unfortunate truth is that I have owned 4 prev 4x4s in 16 yrs of doing this work, and I at some-time-or-other stuck 3 of the 4 in ways that required help pulling out. I don't have to like it, it's part of what I do. I happen to like leather seats. They are easier to clean than cloth seats in almost any circumstance. Jim, you are full of it. Quote

I really can't see how what type of car you drive should matter to your employees. My boss at work doesn't even own a car (takes the bus) I guarantee he makes more than 99.9% of the people on this board. I drive 35,000-45,000 miles per year (10 years ago it was 50+). Goddammit, I don't want to drive an old piece of shit. I want the people who buy stuff from me or sell stuff from me to have a comfortable ride in my vehicle, if I happen to give 'em a ride. Maybe I'm an insecure loser for wanting to drive a new vehicle after I've put 140k on the old one... Fact is that I can afford a new one, and the 'bourbon left me stranded in the rain with a bad fuel pump recently. Was time for a change.
