JGowans Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 Getting my lady into climbing. Looking for a decent pair of plastic boots (Koflach Degree or similar I think size 8), standard ice-ax around 65cm and a pair of crampons in good condition (maybe Grivel G-10 or G-12). Second Ascent has all this stuff but they're not the cheap guys they used to be. /j Quote

JGowans Posted April 3, 2003 Author Posted April 3, 2003 I've got to ask...how come you're selling them so cheap? Also, from I've read, it seems that these are suited for wide feet. Would you recommend them for a girl? Quote
JoshK Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 These are sweet boots, I have a pair. They are suited for wide feet, however. I have wide feet and they fit me very well. Quote
iceaxe23 Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 Yea I would say they fit wide...I have a pair of sportiva trango ice in 42 and they fit about the same. So if she has wide feet they would be good. I got them very cheap and was going to use them but my trango ice boots are much lighter so I am just going to sell them cheap...oh and yea my floor has seen better days like in the 70's Quote
JGowans Posted April 3, 2003 Author Posted April 3, 2003 Iceax, it's a killer deal, but I think I'll pass. She doesn't have very wide feet and I just don't think they'd be a great fit. I'm sure there's plenty other folks eyeing them though. Great boots for an amazing price. Quote
freeclimb9 Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 I've got Tecnica boots, and I think they're of low to medium volume (i.e. not wide). You can't really tell unless you try them on. Quote

JGowans Posted April 7, 2003 Author Posted April 7, 2003 Hey, I want to just mention that I got the stuff I was after, and I did indeed go to Second Ascent. Greg's a good guy, and he gave me a good deal. I'm a cheap bastard sometimes and shouldn't moan about his prices. He called me on it, and he has a point. My bad Greg. Now, if there was only a shop called "Umpteenth Ascent" that sold all the shit that folks ditch after they bought it from Second Ascent and I could get all my gear for next to nothing... Quote
fleblebleb Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Hmm, I see Greg calling you on this one too. Watch out, even better deals coming up, eh? Quote
