genepires Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 The march to long rope continues. BD has a sale on 80 meter ropes. A sale! I can barely manage my 70m. http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/climbing-ropes/9.6-80m-BD323030DURO0801.html#cgid=Cyber-Monday&utm_campaign=bfcm&utm_content=deals&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=fastg8&utm_term=all-rt&start=7 Quote

ScaredSilly Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Pfff, been using a 100m rope for decades. It is affectionately known as the pig. Especially as it goes into a pink bag. That said for any long rope get one with a bi-pattern. Quote
G-spotter Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 80ms are for guys who are insecure about their 70m Quote
just some guy Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 We were just in Greece a month ago and 40M routes there are pretty popular and good, a lot of the steep tufa lines are 40M but there are also just as many long moderates that need 80M ropes. We made a pretty full and satisfying trip with a 70M but we also jumped on our friends 80M for some sweet pitches. We did meet up for drinks with the French climber Francois Guillot who told us about the need for a 100M rope on certain lines, a statement that blew our collective North American minds. Quote
Chaps Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 In Minnesota, a 80M rope is a two for one special. Just cut it in half and go climb your 20M and STFU. Quote
