  1. Jeebus, mark! Don't you know anything? That's where they're building that new super-collider atom-smasher thingy that was the talk of the town on this here board a coupla years ago! It's either that, or the railway entrance to Hitler's secret hideaway. You remember the Eagle's Nest? Well, few people know that he had a replica built here so that after the invasion and conquest of North America, he would have himself a little "home away from home" so to speak. You know how much he liked Bavaria, right? Well, Leavenworth seemed like just the right place...
  2. You're telling me that this thing ain't working? OMFG, we're doomed! Doomed, I tell ya!
  3. Of course! Remember icegirl? TheLawGoddess? caolyn? Kitergal? Lotsa others here...
  4. Agree with your assessment, Doug. Yes, that is the weirdest talus collection that I've ever come across. It's like it never got shook up enough to get settled out. It's like it's fresh rockfall, but there's nowhere from which it could fall. And I love the scratchy, clanky sounds it makes when it shifts...
  5. I love this pic! Veronika, you actually took the time to shoot this pic whilst sketching across this? Very nervy!
  6. While on route, turn and look over your left shoulder to the horizon. Strobach Mountain. Brian, Far far far too early for ice yet on Strobach - give it another coupla months. Should be good to go by December, but possibly by Thanksgiving if it gets cold enough.
  7. AC, How does this: qualify as a smart-assed answer? It is a statement of fact, albeit preceded by an interrogatory, which in my mind came off as non-threatening. Following it up with this as your second-ever post: certainly comes off as a tad snarky for a board n00b, IMHO. You're setting the stage for yourself to be considered a douchebag, and we have plenty of those here already, thankyouverymuch. In answer to your last question, bazillions of people on this board make a habit of replying to posts that they don't know (or care) shit about. It's a way of life here. I respectfully suggest that you get used to it if you plan on spending much time here. Oh, and welcome to CC.com!
  8. I think you'll just have to get used to it, or don't climb there anymore. Be thankful you didn't head over to Kloochman's Rock... now that's what I call looseness!
  9. Veronika, before anyone else asks, are those shorts over polypro...?? Seriously, nice job getting up there and getting some hits. Thanks for the report!
  10. I thought that the guidebook was pretty clear about it. Mentions looseness in the general description, shows looseness on the topo, and tells you that it's an alpine (read: possible/likely looseness) climb in the write-up. YMMV.
  11. So someone registers, makes their very first post, and comes off as a smart-ass on Day One. Nice going, AC - you'll fit in here just fine.
  12. Marc, Jason looks a lot like that guy that was in a youtube vid on here a few weeks back that was climbing hung-over and he shit his pants on route. Same guy? If so, righteously funny to see him climbering with you. And great kudos on you guys' variation. Way to send, man!
  13. Oh Lord, do we have the strength to carry on this mighty task in one night? Or are we just jerking off?
  14. We'll be expecting a TR, spionin. FISH ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!1
  15. Jeebus Christ, you fuq'n blighters sure are goddamn critical! Gimme a freak'n break, it's from 20-fuq'n-odd years ago, ferchrissakes! How about a little help from the Ladies of CC.com, eh? Sherri, minx, Teresa, archie, Mel, anyone? Will not one of you step forward to be my champion? (with all due apologies to King Arthur)
  16. I don't know for certain, but lake stocking is something that typically happens in the spring. Now, given that it takes the Alpine Lakes a little longer to thaw out, I'd say that they've already had their stocking for the year. So you'd be fishing out the guys that have survived the summer hordes. But I would think that there'd still be plenty of the little blighters swimming about to make it worth toting your kit up there. Anybody out there in the fish & wildlife department or the Leavenworth Ranger Station know fer sure?
  17. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-BODY EXPECTS A SPANISH INQUISITION!!!1 And you didn't see me picking up on this at all, didja ivan?
  18. Flourescent neon laces were all the rage on the East Coast when I left there in 1988. Clearly, I hadn't switched to the Nirvana-esque West Coast grunge color scheme of the early 1990s yet...
  19. First timer... was going on the recommendation of partners to tape up. Clearly, tape is aid. Don't use it anymore. Feel better now?
  20. Dan, you know how much I hate all that PC bullshit. You just like toying with me, don't you...??
  21. That's Native American Summer to you. I was waiting for someone to call me out on that one, Dan.
  22. September/October is the perfect time to do SCW. Rock stays dry during the Indian Summer, temps are cooler (even without any cloud cover), crowds have thinned, and the fall colors can't be beat. I have many cherished memories of being on SCW at this time of year. Go get some now! The pic is from my very first trip up OS, shortly after moving back out here in late 1988. Partners on this trip were Dave Turner and Larry Linik. Absolutely stellar day, and I got the lead for the croozer 1st pitch, the 3rd (crux traverse) pitch, and the 5th (first headwall crack) pitch!

    important question

0330 hours??? Jeebus, Muff, WTF are you doing up at that hour? Get some sleep, girl.
  24. Is Andy Fitz (posts here) still involved in the AF as well? I don't think he checks in here very often. Seems like he's over at WCC more, and I don't frequent that board. Could one of you WCC types look into that?
