  1. I've got a story that can match/beat that, but ya'll have already heard it enough. Cynical- Get up off the couch and divorce the bitch if you've married her, or just leave the skank if you haven't. Doesn't sound like you've got kids in the mix, so it should be plenty fuq'n easy for you to split the sheets. With your asset list, it sounds like you don't even need a lawyer, so just get a DIY divorce. But get on it before it's too late. I'm 51 and livin' large once again, even with $3,300/month in alimony/child support/daycare payments. I'm living proof that it's NEVER too late to start living again. And only 4 more payments and I get a $1,500/month raise (the spousal maintenance payments end after May)!!!
  2. There are still a few SAR specific Blackhawks in WA (Whidby Island NAS SAR) and Ft Lewis-McCord has a few still. Correct. But all of the UH-60s left the Yakima Firing Center years ago and are overseas. IIRC, there hasn't been a Blackhawk at the YFC since 2005.
  3. Now THAT would have been funny to watch!
  4. "No cats were harmed during the filming of this video."
  5. Yeah, Larry, what OW said. It can happen. Look at me now! What a difference a year makes.

  9. Those cats have amazingly mad zen skilz, and their feng shui is highly aligned.
  10. I reckon my Uncle Frank will be tipping back a glass or two to this news, being that Maj. Winters was his CO. Interesting that he died the same way he lived. Quietly and peacefully, without much fanfare nor ceremony. R.I.P., Maj. Winters. You were an inspiration to me and many many others.
  11. This is precisely what happened on my first date with my (now) ex-wife, mentioned just up there a few posts. ^^ Indeed, very creepy... :shudder:
  12. Ohhhhh, I have been told that many times, Alex. It was hard enough getting through it the first time around. I don't want to relive it while writing about it.
  13. Uhhhh... yeah... there was that first date in the Easter weekend blizzard and collapsing snow cave, wasn't there..? An omen of what was to follow in future years, eh?
  14. Mel, My first winter descent of the South Side of Hood almost ended up like your story line. Took a several-hundred-foot tumble from near the top of the Pearly Gates almost the whole way to the fumarole. Then got up, collected the yard sale, and skied over the ridge of the hogsback into the Devil's Kitchen, redeeming myself in front of the onlookers at the Hogsback by catching significant air as I vaulted the ridge. This was in an AT set-up. Regarding the stove, I wouldn't give it a second thought about firing it up inside. With the wind as significant as it must be in your storyline, and the holes around the packs at the entrance, CO poisoning with that much air movement inside the cave would not be an issue.
  15. "Cause every girls crazy bout a sharp dressed man"... (enter ZZ Top) He's just going downtown, looking for some tush...
  16. Wow, marc! You can see the evil in your eyes already!

    A Victim of War

Really sorry to hear that, ZZ. My condolences to you, and your cousin's family. This thing is making a run for being as long as Viet Nam was, and just as pointless.
  21. Clearly, YMMV The Tri Cities is a hole, indeed, but I would not trade my "traffic" for your gridlock any fuq'n day of the week. Case in point: My commute is 6.4 miles one way. I can do it in about 10 minutes; 13 if the lights are against me. That time savings is more important to me in the long run because I spend more time in town during a week than I do climbing out of town. Choose your poison, sir. For if you must choose, you must choose wisely. I choose short commutes, sunshine, and fine red wines.
  22. The Climb - Anatoli Boukreev Written in opposition to, and is a much more gripping read than, Krakauer's Into Thin Air
  23. All drive times (shown as H:MM) assume clear roads (for the season), obeying speed limits (yeah... right! ), and put you at the parking area. Approach times après-parking not included since I can’t know how fast you move. Rock Climbing/Cragging Frenchman's Coulee (George, WA)- 1:15 Tieton Canyon (Naches, WA)- 1:45 Spring Mountain (Eastern OR)- 2:20 Banks Lake (Electric City, WA)- 2:30 Cliffs of Sharon/Dishman Rocks (Post Falls, ID)- 2:45 Leavenworth/Tumwater (WA)- 3:00 Beacon Rock (Stevenson, WA)- 3:30 Lightning Dome (Grangeville, ID)- 3:45 Smith Rocks (Terrebone, OR)- 4:00 WA Pass (Mazama, WA)- 4:45 Selkirks (Sandpoint, ID)- 5:30 Mountain Biking Not my thing, but there is a sizeable MB community here. They must travel a bit, although there are a bunch of sagebrush covered hills around here where they practice their art. Skiiing Bluewood (Dayton, WA); 2:00 White Pass; 2:15 Mission Ridge (Wenatchee, WA); 3:00 Stevens Pass; 3:30 Crystal is out of the picture because Chinook pass is closed in winter – too far to drive all the way around Mountaineering/Glacier Slogging Mt. Adams (Cold Springs lot); 3:00 Mt. Rainier (Paradise Lodge); 3:15 Mt. Hood (Timberline Lodge); 3:20 Mt. St. Helens (parking lot); 4:30 Mt. Baker (parking lot); 6:00 Ice Climbing Strobach Mountain; 2:00 Little Naches; 2:30 Banks Lake; 2:30 Banff; 10:00 That’s the general run-down. I may have missed a couple areas, but these are the places that I tend to frequent.
