Re-traced figure eight. Kind of like a water knot, but using a figure eight. Had a partner that liked to tie the rappel ropes together that way. Is that the same thing as a flemish bend? Is it any better/worse than a DF? I've never used a retraced F8 in that application.

You could accomplish the same thing with electrician's shrink-wrap. Just make sure you turn up the blowtorch real high...

bump! So I'm headed to 11worth tonight for some climbering this w/e. I didn't see any beta about free/cheap/secret climber's bivy in this thread (nor any of the others that I searched). It's been so long since I camped in the Icicle, is there now a place that's better than others? If I camp in a pay site, am I just asking to get ripped off while I'm out climbing? thanks PS: I always take my cooler with me, so at least the blighters can't pinch my beer...

I like it not. The shadings make it hard to tell what's been read or not (everything is a varying shade of grey), color scheme is sux0r, font is ancient, wouldn't let me log in for 10 minutes or so, hard on the eyes, etc. Please return to the blissful state of benevolence before the Bovine Wars...
