  11. quote: Originally posted by viktor: The stuff on the left are "projects" that no one has been able to do, as far as I know. Been there for years. The bolted crack in question was bolted due to the friable nature of the crack. It's different kind of rock and a touch unstable. Tap it with a hammer and see. Sure it takes gear, but I don't think you want to whip on it. Put your aiders on it and jump on your gear. They are not necessarily "chicken" bolts but were meant to keep the rock from busting apart in the event of a fall. viktor, is that not when better judgement should come into play....and you say "jeez this rock sucks and i am afraid to fall and hurt myself, especially since the rock appears friable. maybe i will leave this for someone who does not need bolts to climb it. or maybe we dont need to climb every piece of rock in the icicle....." again another selfish act............. why again are we reauired to climb every piece of rock????

I have (on the advice of a friend) and it's pretty shocking what they participate in and/or support. i dont doubt that......i am just commenting on one particular thing...all major corps fuck shit up!!!!

  22. quote: Originally posted by sk: Oh yeah??? I'm a girl, and I would drive a subaru if I could afford one... and I would put climbing stickers all over it too. This is why I can't wear my rock shoes and my harness and chalk bag all day, everywhere I go. and I need some simple reminder that not every day is rainy, not everyday is monday, and it rocks to wake up on saterday wraped up in my sleeping bag, after a night of drinking and smoking, knowing all I have to do is CLIMB. i am having a hard time wrapping my brain around this concept....i believe that good climbing will not begin after a night of smoking and drinking.....
  23. umm alex speak for yourself...i climbed this weekend as well as many of my dear friends....!!!! and i like the debates, it allows others to be involved in the process..... you can come next time too!!! enjoy erik
  24. quote: Originally posted by specialed: How can anyone possibly claim one person is the "best rock climber in the world," yet the mags do it all the time CUZ THEY HAVE YET TO MEET ME!!!
  25. i agree with alpinek, who cares who is the best or the baddest....climbing is all about personal satisfaction while at the same time minimizing our personal impact on the enviroment in which we particpate. i should put up a poll to maybe ask the question do we need to read dumb posts like this.
