we met some nut on potash road outside moab a couple of years ago.....he had cats wandering all around his squatter camp.....said they killed snakes and rats...only thing dogs were good for was the food....then he told us once the us was destroyed maybe our rappelling skills might be hlpful to reach the new cliff dwellings... he had some great reading too.... if i can find the pic i secretly took of him, i will post it...

lworthless slabs are special...most of the newer ones are contrivences made by viktor kramer...he and his buddies put alot of work into making these climbs...... darrington is sumpin totally different.....a little less sport bolted...but the bolts are there spaced between heady blank moves....the moves in lworth slabs are much more edgy compared to the smearing that dtown requires

if you seriously think it is russion mafia or something...then you should contact the king county sherriff's office, they have a task force exclusivly to deal with these folks...they are nearing as large a problem as some of the asian gangs...... when i was doing fraud in the auburn/kent valley the russian mafia was way into similar scams like this, as well as honda/acura theft.....

um.... being a manager in a sevice orientated business i would have to disagree....my end of the deal is servicing existing contracts, making new ones and audting my employees operations. we do not sell anything, but we do offer service. any time there is a lack of communication or a break down of communication, the level of service is reduced drastically. this may occur from several different reasons or from either party. the difference between an excellent employee, one deserving compensation for their stellar job performance and one that may need the issues discussed and plans formulated for success. stems directly from the employee and their personality. if the person is unable to assist a potential consumer(one who keeps the shop open, by trade of money for goods) then there presents a potential leakage point for the company, a true liabilty. since the point of a retial store is to make money for said services, the attitudes and willingness of the employees to go above their condidtioned or hardended respose, will bring return customers and in some cases broaden the customer base, from word of mouth of the good experience. as the manager recieving complaints about employees, there are two directions you can take. one being nothing and chalking it up to just a bad day or lack of understanding by one or the other party(you cannot make everyone happy) or two you can dicuss said issues with the employee and form a plan of action to create a successful work enviroment. now the companies that go with option one, are usually specialty shops with small employee numbers and a tighter knit group. no one usually thinks their friends are in the wrong. the problem with this appraoch is that since these specialty shops have a smaller customer base, it in turn affects them in the long run. breaking down a customer base and alienating possible new clients. this is called bad or improperly trained managing staff. now the companies whom go with option 2. they tend to be more corperate and have probably have a high employee turnaround and a large work force, due to the fact that most people find rigid work rules kinda harsh. this though teaches people that their actions do count and need to be considered in an attempt to foster a good working relationship with the other staff and potential customers. this stems from a well trained manager who is able to communicate the wishes of said supervisors. i would think that taking both of these options and forming option 3, will make a retail store or any company for that matter a better place. one where people feel comfortable and can learn through the excellent communication of the employees and managing staff. one thing i have learned in training is that hiring friends or befriending fellow employees hamper this in most cases. like i said above, your friends are rarely wrong. i can see this at my job, where there will be am issue to arise(usually lack of communication) and to hear both sides of the story. i also tend to dicuss issue with others in the office to get a feel for the employee's over all attitude and ability to communicate and it usually turns out that employee's who spend more time with each other, in essence forming a friendship will go beyond reason and cover for their friends. any good manager will have to look at it objectivly and deciede which is the lesser of two evils. and in retail, especially it tends to fall within the employee's lap. stating this as the fact that people whom come to specialty shops tend to be looking for information, as well as product. this is very evident with ff, with their position across the street from rei. so if their is a communication break down, the employee needs to rise above what they expect and service the customers expectations. if they do not agree with this, then retail may not be the job for them. it seems that crackbolter has been alerted of the issue and it also seems that there is a substantional agreement from the general public(not saying this is an accurate measure of the climbing society in the greater tacoma area(that includes seattle) so this makes me wonder what direction do they take the complaints? do they just fix the single issue and leave it be, or is there a deeper fix to the apprent continual issue? probably the latter. too bad! the thing that i would also would like to hear is good experiences with ff. i am sure there are....(flebebebebes opinion doesnt count!) what are reasons people like to go there?? i for sure know it is not the killer prices or the hardware selection. so what is it? is it the fact that they possibly might have some decent customer service. if that is the case then there may potentially be only one or two bad employees, but as the old saying goes "one bad apple spoils the whole barrel" so hopefully crackbolter will look beyond homie status and see that there may be issues with his employees and that possbily more open communication with them about maintaing a postive attitude towards the cumstomers might be benefical to all parties concerned. sorry for the rambling and disconnected ideas...hard to remember all that managment programming seomtimes.....i can handle it in a practical manner, but in text form i have a hard time recalling it....and my office is proof that communication is key...we have some of the smallest leakage #'s in the country and an excellent repoire with open lines of communication with our clients!

alex i didnt climb ziller on sunday......did that shiz sat night.... i was over on j-gardens fillin out the rest of a hard moring....cranked out on some country routes and then headed over to hang wit maw peeps!!! andi though the 20 seconds to the anchor was fair!!!

actully ow i dont get excited about the potential violence surrounding it... the one thing that gets me is the fact like trask said is the reppetive nature of the deal... and i really hate the innocence/ignorance about the whole thing.....criminals are not exclusivly a city issue, they are everywhere...so to get yourt panties in a bunch over it without taking action(which it seems lucky has been) is like screaming at the wall..... jurisdiction for that area...i believe is the states...wsp or wa park police....isnt there a park office right up there road??? why doesnt someone go down there and talk to them about it....??? posting signs and shit about the crimes is a good start....talk to the n bend police..i am sure this is a local person doing it...most criminals do not travel far for their deal(serial killers excluded) see if they have any similar repsonses to it...also speak to your credit card co's and dicuss the issue with their siu people....they feed off bullshit like this...they can track patterns and start an excellent work up, possibly involving federal officers.... they are many ways to go about it, it just needs to be done... and lucky i do not know if they went thru my car nor do i care....i always take my wallet with me (especially there, thanks for telling us a couple years ago!) when i go to crags i only bring what i need...

well since i dont live in seattle and what not.....i think they all suck....i support my roomate!!! i think that i have found both places and even the other one in town less then perfect...but then again you are dealing with human beings and they all have their ups and downs....certainly in the retail industry you need to keep your downs out of the public eye....but sometimes that is near impossible..... granted the two times i hd been at ff....i was not helped the way i think most cutomers would want.....i tend not to fend ignorance, but i already now it all.....just me!! so the peeps had little to do with me...no deal...i dont buy from those places anyways....but i would say that after someone i know came in and said sup to the kidz working there and me...we certainly had a much better repoire.... i think i kinda hit it on the head with layton's guiding thread about teaching and showiing others the things they need to know or want to learn....it is just hard sometimes for the experts to have the paitence and or the want to help someone else out.... granted since i was snubbed at first from ff...i will make them pay by never shopping there...no deal really, cuz i wouldnt want to pay their prices anywayz..... dan, if you had a shitty deal with them....cryin here in no way can make it better....crackbolter(tony) seems to be a nice guys(just dont talk shit about his store though!!) send him a note outlining your issues with the specific person and go from there.....if they are the super store that they think they are then they will realize that possibly that their shit might stink once in awhile...and they might even help you out....
