China and India have signed on to the Kyoto protocol. They are not subject to reductions in greenhouse gases under Kyoto. With per capita GDP's at PPP of $4900 and $2600, respectively (US =$33000), what are they supposed to cut? Wood stoves for the farmers?
India and China are the future of conservation, but we can't preclude them from the basics, food, shelter, transportation - and many in Asia don't yet have those.
