dude, stay away. climbing girls are just as fucked up as climbing guys. imagine dating a male version of you. also, imagine screaming at your girlfriend cuz she's taking way to fucking long to lead/follow a pitch. that's a good time. i've only known one cool climbing chick in my whole life. give up. don't do it. find some girl that's mildly interesting in rock climbing, and train her to like cragging. that way you can go alpine climbing with your bro's, and on penalty days, you still get to go climbing, and who cares how good she climbs as long as she "just likes getting out" and can belay you. boy am i gonna get nailed for this post.

My other idea is your eating center in your brain (hyopthalamus) is affected by minute changes in homostasis, so the cold (be it higher heat, or something else) could be affecting your hunger drive. As for not being able to crank routes after a cold, i believe your body is proctecting itself by going into recovery mode, like it or not. Kinda like overtraining.

If you stay in vermont you will get way more local water ice, but there is some to be had around here. If you move to the PNW you will have access to more rewarding BIG ice climbs, but they will be few and far between. You'll be closer to road trips to the canadian rockies and montana, although flying there from vermont is way quicker than driving there from portland. Vermont=more ice climbing for you PNW=real alpinism, but with much hair pulling and failure
