I'm voting with Oly. Norse gods should pack their bags and go back to Norway. -

Maybe scientist aren't 100 percent on Planet 9 but there's stuff in Oregon they are sure of Mammoth bones on the OSU football field [img:center]http://a.abcnews.go.com/images/US/HT_mammoth_bones3_cf_160127_4x3_992.jpg[/img] You're off in the hills looking at slot canyons when you could be digging in random locations around town. Think about what could be out there -

If you want the equivalent of a pro deal don't buy ski gear till after March 1. Starting about then is when retailers want to get rid of stuff and make way for next seasons hot items. If you do it that way you'll have a pro deal on last years stuff for the next season. It's highly unlikely ski gear will be 1000 times better next season

Not sure how many germans were at pearl harbor

Pro deals give you a percentage off, but they're just a tool manufactures use to help make money. They don't hurt the bottom line. Recently a manufacturer rep approached someone who helps decide what products will be offered for sale in a limited amount of retail space in a climbing gym. The rep wants product to be viewed by likely customers, but knows retail space is limited. As an incentive pro deals will be offered to employees of the gym. Basically the rep wants to pay a small rental fee for space to promote product. If you volunteer for ski patrol at a ski area you have to be a member of the NSP and you have to pay dues. As a perc you get pro deals from some equipment manufacturers, but manufacturers don't give pro deals on all the products they sell. Basically manufactures reduce but don't eliminate profits from some items to a limited group of people. The chances manufactures are loosing money on pro deals and passing losses on to Joe or Jane schmuck with no pro deals are pretty low.

Making things like this [img:center]https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/12304486_10206888405543931_7885677558701496019_o.jpg[/img]

Whether intentional or not, in the modern era it's hard not to take a photo of yourself or a climbing partner without exposing a brand label of a product you/they are wearing. Most manufactures place the brand name of the product you either choose to buy or were given in places that are easy to see. Product label placement shows up all the time in all kinds of professions, movies, and TV shows. Drive by a construction site and you'll know what kind of equipment the company owner likes. Manufactures pay to place brand name products in movies. A couple weeks ago while watching a football game the name Microsoft was clearly visible on all the laptops that made it into the broadcast ... Had social media been around years ago, Fred might have unintentionally promoted a large chain restaurant due to their easy to pilfer napkins...

As a kid I always wanted to drive this thing [img:center]http://www.sheridanmedia.com/files/image/2_4.jpg[/img] Then again it wouldn't have been all fun [img:center]http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/media/site569/2013/1126/20131126__131126_wienermobile_road_300.jpg[/img]

I'm impressed. The take off didn't worry me too much. Where the hell are they going to land without trashing skis was my main question. Guess there was enough base that day.

On the 1st while driving to Snoqualmie Pass you could see snow plumes blowing off all the peaks west of the pass. We ended up skiing on the north side of Kendall. Snow conditions included pockets of wind packed powder along with the unpacked variety.
-
We tried that in the 50s. Skiing rights in North Korea don't seem worth it.

Don't be such a negative-nessy. The Rooster still shows up now and then.
-
You might be able to ski North Korea back country pow if you applied for a permit and were escorted by a minder.

There are quite a few places with defunct one lift ski areas. Apparently individuals or companies couldn't get or maintain enough business to keep them running.

Here's a photo of what trail breaking in the upper cut looks like (12-19-2015) [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/1CH-10295566_10205878313933.jpg[/img]

Trip: Arrowhead - NW Face Date: 12/19/2015 Trip Report: Despite the El Nino forecast this winter is starting out better than all of last year. While snowpack is low, we didn't even consider skiing here last year. Creek crossing fun [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/3-W-DSC02818.jpg[/img] We stuck to the logging road through the first cut and the going was slightly nasty in the second cut [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/4-W-DSC02819.jpg[/img] smooth sailing above the second cut [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/5-W-DSC02820.jpg[/img] Chiwaukum Range [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/7-W-DSC02822.jpg[/img] Jim Hill [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/8-W-DSC02823.jpg[/img] Powder [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/10-W-DSC02825.jpg[/img] [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/11-W-DSC02826.jpg[/img] [img:center]http://cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/3069/medium/13-W-DSC02828.jpg[/img] Approach Notes: More snow in the lower logging cuts will add to fun skiing, but the upper part of the mountain is great now.
