There are no long dry spells the temps never get that cold and the ranges never experience the kind of winds that are common in the Rockies. My mistake for missreading your question. I do think you're putting way too much thought into this. I would go with Fern's Krazy Karpet. It's simple, cheap, and you can role it up and cary it on steep slopes where all sleds will suck. Most of the folks who do long traverses use Krazy Karpet sleds. That Jhammer guy won't agree, but he's a techno freak.
