"47 minutes from downtown to trailhead" REALLY! That trip takes me longer while driving. I don't know how you managed that on a bike. Eric -
Great film, thanks for sharing!

Ramutas shoe repair. They were reasonably quick and my shoes (TC pros) looked like new when I got them back. Eric

I have also been watching this closely.

Does anyone know when this thing is going to be available? Eric

I love my Houdini, it's really nice to be able to clip it on a harness. I have worn the Squamish also, really great fit and it feels more durable. But I usually like what I can get cheapest! Eric

Lets hope this jacket and the lessons learned will be passed down to us instead of ending up as a "look at how cleaver we are" publicity piece! Eric

Even without Encapsil, the cut and design of the Jacket seem great, but I don't often climb anywhere cold enough for such a warm jacket and could not justify $700. Maybe once I start regularly heading to the Canadian rockies or AK. Encapsil seems like really cool technology which would be better served on jackets designed for less cold areas where liquid water or wet snow is more likely. If Encapsil works as well as they say it does, I think it would be logical to begin using Encapsil in there other down jackets. If they trust Encapsil's durability enough to sell it to the masses then I will probably buy it. So I would like to wait and see, and sense it is already sold out I guess thats our only option! Eric

Full Failure on my sabertooths. Both Crampons fully replaced by BD. Eric

I currently have a pair of silver trangos. I love the weight and how they climb, but they crunch my toes together. When I replace these next season, I will be looking for a boot that can climb very similar to my trangos and fits my feet which are not super wide but look like a upside down triangle (so my pinky toe is crushed). I am not sure if any of that made sense. Anyway who makes lightweight high performance mountain boots for people with wide feet. I have heard scarpa boots have a little more room in them but I have yet to try a pair. Thanks Eric

Hey AK friends! I will be up in Anchorage from the 12/22 till 1/3 and would love to get on some ice. I want to get out a few times while I am up there visiting family and will be bringing my own personal gear (harness/tools etc.) but would like to leave my ropes and screws at home. I am familiar with Eklutna but have not climbed much else, but I am willing to explore. Let me know if any of you alaskans don't mind sharing your ice me. Eric ehkrumland@gmail.com

I moved to the area a few months ago and since then have found plenty of partners interested in Alpine climbing but would love to meet some other people stocked on sport and bouldering. I am mostly free mid week and would love to find some guys who want to project routes or head down to goldbar and climb some highballs. email or pm me if you are interested. ehkrumland@gmail.com Eric

I have never been to either and I am looking to go to one of these next weekend. I have a preference for trad routes so which do you guys like or which will be better this time of year? Thanks Eric

Is anyone up for some bouldering thursday? I plan on heading up to Gold bar from Mount Vernon, so if anyone wants pool our pads and climb together let me know. Also if you live on route and need a ride let me know. Eric

The weatherman says that tomorrow will be our last day of sun for a while. Does anybody want to celebrate the end of this great weather by doing some climbing. I will go anywhere and climb anything Goldbar, Index, Exit 32/38, Leavenworth. I would also love to climb at Equinox, I know I live close to it but no one has ever taken me their so if you are willing to show me this place I would greatly appreciate it. I have gear and experience and will climb anything from easy stuff to hard stuff. I just want to get out before the weather changes. Give me a call 360-420-8920 Eric

Trip: Washington Pass - DEB of SEWS Date: 10/3/2012 Trip Report: Josh and I climbed the direct east buttress yesterday and we had a great day out. We were in the sun until we passed the first bolt ladder and did not get back into the sun until we made the summit. During this time it was VERY cold and belaying these pitches meant lots of shivering in the cold windy conditions. After following the second bolt Ladder Josh commented that it was the first time he had ever gotten the screaming barffies without ice climbing! Josh following the first 5.9 The first bolt ladder just before it got really cold I tried to take a picture of myself to show how cold I was after the second bolt ladder and this is the best I could do Josh topping out The decent was beautiful and the larches are looking good Overall we had a great day out. There is still time to do plenty of climbing out there but it is getting cold fast, go get it before its too late. Climbing in the shade is still doable but I would highly recommend bring a puffy jacket and some belaying gloves. I lost two pieces of gear on the 5.9+ pitch before the bolt ladder. One red Camelot which I tossed into a crack I could not see but felt like the right size, and a nut which was loaded and set into position while previously mentioned Camelot was trying to be retrieved. These are the first two pieces of gear I have ever gotten stuck and if anyone can retrieve either of these for me (especially the cam) I will get you a six pack of your choice. 360-420-8920 Eric Gear Notes: Doubles from .5" to 3", one 4" is usefully and so are alpine aiders r Approach Notes: Up to gully and right

I am in need of a bivy sack and was wanting to know what you guys are using. I am looking for something which is really lightweight, and at least very water resistant. What are the best options out there? Eric

I wonder if this stuff would work? The videos of it look pretty cool. Neverwet Eric
