  1. Yeah, keep pretending this is a partisan issue. That's smart... Oh please, two years ago it was non stop conspiracy theories out of the Republicans and elation out of the Democrats. Now its the opposite. The real issue is the Democrats pissed off the swing voters and are too dumb to understand why the votes are going away. Same thing happened four years ago and two years ago with Republicans.
  2. I got the clearance to run the interference! [video:youtube]
  3. Pretty funny to remember how happy liberals were just two years ago but now you're sitting here about to open a vein. Keep your chin up little fella, it'll all work out in the end.
  4. Don't get too worked up. TomTom mainly only posts drive-by insults. http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/userposts/id/1551

  6. The zippers on the NW Alpine Hoody look gigantic for the application. I'd be interested in seeing one but overall my socks aren't knocked off from the pictures. I bought one of the R1 Hoody's currently on clearance but don't have the new one to compare it against. The zippers don't feel crappy but they appear to be a little different from the pictures of the current model. The current model is listed as having R.5 at the wrist and lower hem and the clearance model is listed as having Cap4. The fit is perfect for me and for the price I can't complain. I was originally looking at the MEC version but after shipping it was the same price as the Patagonia.
  7. You're changing the subject. You said: You are not free to say anything you want when the medium in which you're saying it is owned by someone else. The consequences may change but the fact is that no one is required to allow you to say anything you want on their private property. However, if Juan and NPR's contract stated that they could terminate him if he said anything that was counter to the image they wanted portrayed than it certainly was within their right to let him go. Liberal or Conservative, it makes no difference. That said, they obviously wanted him gone and this was their opportunity.
  8. I'm always delighted and surprised in equal measure when contemporary "liberals" lose their bearings and stray into the ideological terrain that's always belonged to classical liberals. I suspect that the folks at the Nation will soon realize they've lost all of their bearings and signposts and flee back to the familiar territory of illiberal statism when it suits them. Nice "liberalism" you got there that upholds the denial of First Amendment rights for most people during the majority of their waking hours (while at work). Add to that the "right" of property owners to censor speech while on their property and you've effectively restricted speech to people's cars and homes. Funny kind of freedom... You mean like this forum where you're free to say what you want so long as it doesn't break the owners rules?
  9. Can you tell me about the "Shitty seconds version" of the R1 Hoody? I assume you mean the version Patagucci sold on clearance for $90, correct? What makes it shitty versus the other version? The NW Alpine hoody is interesting to me but only because of the price. Part of my attraction to the R1 hoody is the use of thinner materials around the wrist and below the beltline.
  10. LIAR! This is what happens when you privatize nature. The Kochtopus cabal is at the center pulling strings!
  11. and was the regressive corporatist shill bear paying its fair share of taxes?
  12. I'll await your next fit of whining when a court ruling doesn't suit your fancy. Should we talk about McDonald Vs. Chicago where "your side" sought to restrict a black man from defending his own home or property with a firearm? Spare me your sanctimony.
  13. Is Juan Williams a Journalist now?
  14. Really? Please explain. Because there is no plan in place to make the change. Everything from UCMJ to TRADOC has to change in a day. Where do you plan to billet the new "out" troops? What are the new training procedures? How will deployments be run? What are the new UCMJ rules/laws? Yes, I'm sure the 'administrative costs' of ending slavery was a great argument for keepin Toby down on the plantation in its time LOL. Spoken like a true, 'well meaning' bigot! Enter the apologist who wants to sweep aside the fact that his idol helped create DADT and force it on the military. You act as though the only victim in this is the gays, how about the men and women of the military who are left holding the bag after the failed legislation it never asked for nor wanted? You want gays in the military in a day? Fine, you got it but you afford commanders no time to consider the health and welfare of the soldiers they are tasked to lead.
  15. agreed - but couldn't they have planted some crack in his office or something instead? the cause given seems uber-retarded. If you keep agreeing with me other liberals are going to start to take notice and then get you fired for some minor comment.
  16. NPR obviously didn't like him being on Fox. This was their opportunity to get rid of him.
  17. Really? Please explain. Because there is no plan in place to make the change. Everything from UCMJ to TRADOC has to change in a day. Where do you plan to billet the new "out" troops? What are the new training procedures? How will deployments be run? What are the new UCMJ rules/laws?
  18. i agree w/ all that, though i think the point regarding expense is that the congress has known since 1992 that it needed to deal w/ the issue, and after 18 years of waiting, the expense of how its implemented can be pretty much be damned, b/c IT'S TIME! There is also that pesky paradigm shift that has to take place in TRADOC. What a mess. Wait until we start burning through command.
  19. But they were four very long clicks!
  20. Because there is an unintended consequence of ending DADT so abruptly. Allowing gays in the military comes at a very large price tag and making the change in a single day is problematic. This is why DADT should be ended via legislation and why if I'd voted for Obama I'd be so pissed he isn't keeping his promise. Most people don't understand how complicated the issue is, its not just about the morality.
  21. So FW. Do you think DADT is a good idea? Would you like to keep this policy? You miss my point entirely, which is this: you and other liberals who voted for Obama seem to be born-again pragmatists these days. What you have isn't really what was advertised, is it? Don't get me wrong, patience is just fine. But this is one of the key issues Obama ran on--and it was in the bag! A Done deal. A win. And the guy you pinned your hopes on tossed it out the window. And you still sing his praises like the willing dupes you are. As for the issue itself: I couldn't care less about what two people who love each other do in private. You did not answer the question. Is it ok, in your opinion if gays serve openly in the military? Yes or no. Yes. Just wait until everyone finds out the monetary cost of letting gays in the military.
  22. Obama isn't going to reverse DADT, it isn't in his best interest politically. Regardless what the popular opinion is in the PNW, gays in the military isn't popular by in large around the country. The gays didn't get Obama elected, they'll vote for him no matter what, and the voters that matter to Obama aren't overwhelmingly behind the issue. You can either get behind the ACLU propping up a shitbird against DADT or you can continue to whine at town hall meeting without affect. Those are pretty much your only two options in the near future.
