  1. I edited my post - I had posted the size of my boots incorrectly. they are 45 1/2 - NOT 45 as I originally posted. Apologies to all.
  2. Those are some amazing looking huecos on the big slab - you could probably take a nap inside one.
  3. I'll only believe it when Dane posts his review.
  4. Only selling these boots because they're a tiny bit too large for me. These La Sportiva Nuptse are in nearly new condition. I wore them for exactly 2 days of very cold ice cragging in the Catskills. Daily highs were about 5-7 degrees and wind chill was about -20... I stayed warm and comfy. These just have a couple surface scuffs, no nicks or damage, no crampon punctures, or anything like that. They look exactly like you would expect a boot to look with about 12 hours of usage - nearly new. I still have the original box and everything. Price is $315 plus shipping. Best price I can find online is about $360.
  5. If you're willing to stuff two USPS Large Flat Rate Boxes (shipping is $13 each) with as many issues as you can fit, I'll pay you $25 plus exact shipping. PM me if you're interested.
  6. Who wants to go rock climbing?!!!??!!11one
  7. Got a pair of LS Nuptses in 45.5 if you're interested. Worn 3 days on ice - bought less than 2 months ago. They're a hair too large for me, but otherwise perfect and I love them. Looking to sell them or trade down to a 45. Maybe a 44.5.
  8. Looking for a set of replacement front points and heel spurs for my Rambo IV's. They don't necessarily need to be new, but at least in good shape with minimal filing. Mine are getting pretty close to nubs. I probably only have 2-3 filings left, max. Thanks!
  9. Hey folks, looking to fill in some holes in my gear closet. Please send me a message with descriptions and prices shipped to NJ. 1) Petzl vizion face shield - Did you buy one of these to try it out and decide that you hate it? I want to go through the same emotional roller coaster! It can be scuffed a little, but not beat up. Mounting hardware must be included. 2) Looking to buy two sets of 2 bent-gate keylock biners (so that is 4 biners total). Something like Petzl Spirits or the BD Positron bent gate. These can be retired and old. They are NOT going to be used for pro. I am using them to jury rig ice clippers for my ice screws. 3) Would also like to grab a couple extra wiregates. BD Neutrinos or something of similar size/weight/strength - I'm not too picky. These WILL be used for pro, so nothing retired or damaged. If you don't trust your life to them, please don't sell them to me. My mommy will find you and hurt you if your gear fails on me 4) I could potentially be persuaded to buy some more screws if the price is right. Only interested in Grivel 360's or helixes, or the newest BD Express Turbo with the tapered knob. Maybe Petzl Laser Sonics. 16-17cm preferred. I have a bunch of BD Express (no knob) screws that are like new that I can trade if you are looking to put some cash in your pocket but still want to keep a full rack of screws. TRADES: I have a bunch of stuff I will be listing for sale here soon, but I'd love to trade it too. Let me know if anything catches your eye. Clothing: GoreTex XCR jackets, pants, and bibs; softshells; wind shells, down and synthetic puffy jackets, rain jackets; gloves. Mostly Men's Size L. Brands include Marmot, Mountain Hardwear, RedLedge, Session, and Timberland. Gear: Pink and red tricams, 1/2 a set of curve nuts (about 7 total), a set of brand new Cassin Mirage ice tools with leashes that have never been swung, Trango fully rigid monopoint crampons. Backpacks: Several technical packs from Black Diamond, Marmot, and Trango. All in the 25-40L range, all in excellent shape, except the Trango. Thanks! -Jon
  10. Dibs on the screws and instep crampons. E-mail sent.
  11. The Marmot GrandMontet is on SteepAndCheap right now - big red puffy belay jacket for only $159. Get it while you can!
  12. it's a non-sequitar? Hugh, if that was intentional, it was hysterical.
  13. Hey Archie, I'm kind of a n00b here ( <-- see, it says it just over there to the left!) so I'm not familiar with the extent of your injuries. If you're physically capable, is some form of water aerobics a possibility? Zero impact, flotation benefits, warm water, usually has hot aerobics instructors , etc. I know a number of people who have used it as therapy and/or to recover after injuries. Regarding diet: My personal philosophy is called "the caveman diet" - if it didn't exist 4,000 years ago, I try to not to eat it. This basically means lots of fresh fish and chicken (always grilled, olive oil instead of butter, etc), occasional beef, fresh fruits and veggies, only whole grains (i.e. true whole grain bread, the crumbly, thick, doesn't-last 24-hours-outside-of-a-fridge because-it-has-absolutely-no-preservatives-bread). Snacks are nuts and raisins. Of course I don't stick to this 100% or I'd go out of my mind, but it's a very good guideline. Make sure your portion size is appropriate for your daily caloric expenditures and you'll be fine.
  14. I can usually bang out about 20 on a normal day and 25-28 on my best days. Last year when I was really putting in the effort and training hard, I was doing reps of 30 and just breaking into one-hand pullups - about 3 on each arm. Can't do a single one right now though. As a reference: 6'2", 185lbs, 5.8-5.9 trad leader in the gunks (5.9-5.10 everywhere else) and hard 5.11 sport leader at major East Coast crags (NRG and Rumney, mostly). Follow WI4, never done any lead on ice though. Age 25, been climbing on and off about 8 years. Been climbing ice for about 2 weeks.
  15. Found everything I need except the right 4 season tent. Coug4, I appreciate your offer - the price is certainly right but it just isn't what I'm looking for.
  16. I've got some money, you've got some gear! I need: Crampons - Aggressive ice crampon, i.e. dual bails, replaceable mono/dual frontpoints, with antibots, and must fit a large boot (Sportiva Nuptse 44.5) A good 2 man, 4 season tent. Preferably on the lighter end of the spectrum. Must fit 2 guys who are both 6'2" plus a little bit of gear. Vestibule would be nice. A couple BD replacement picks - Fusions, Titans, Alaskas, maybe a Laser. I'm in NJ so please provide price quotes shipped to me here (07666). I'm not looking to break the bank here either, if you want 85% of retail, I'd rather just go support my local shop. I realize I'm new on CC.com, but I've had a couple transactions already with several members and all have gone flawlessly (Bought an axe, some other crampons, some small trinkets, and sold a pair of boots to MattRoc). BTW, I'd really, really like to get the crampons ASAP to have them as spares for a trip this weekend. Thanks!
  17. Sent you a PM last night.
  18. That was beautifully vulgar. Thanks for an entertaining TR!
  19. PRICE DROP ON THE OMEGAS - TAKE 'EM FOR $199! Or, I'd consider a trade for a used monopoint crampon (must fit big boots - La Sportiva Nuptse 44.5) or some good 16-17cm screws, like the BD Express, Petzl Laser Sonics, etc
  20. Or just get the Degre (because it's cheaper overall), but upgrade to the Intuition liners. Nearly 1 lbs lighter than the stock liners, and significantly warmer. Many owners of the Expe do the exact same thing. Intuition liners are the best on the market. As far as sources, this board, Summitpost, and MountainProject are good resources. SierraTradingPost has some amazing sales on boots right now, but sizes and selections are limited. The Raichle Expedition and the Sportiva Nuptse are the two boots listed right now that are appropriate for Denali. Good luck!
  21. Ha, that's almost as good as my standby (and not very politically correct, sorry) "Arguing on the internet is like racing in the special olympics... even if you win, you're still disabled"
  22. FALSE. Stop spreading misinformation before someone dies. Ropes are rated by the manufacturer for very specific uses. Straying outside those approved uses is asking for disaster.
  23. Yup, very true. That's why I priced mine at $225 shipped. Buying them from STP will cost you $256 after paying shipping.
