  1. That looks like some nice rock climbing to the left of it!
  2. BUMP I'm looking for climbing partners in the winter. I'll lead around WI2+ to WI3 and alpine routes. I can follow harder. Anybody want to hit up some climbs? -Mark
  3. Same here with everyone else! I'd love to meet up with some partners for ice climbing this winter. I have alpine experience and one season of ice, I lead up to about WI3. PM me and we can talk about meeting up if you are interested. -Mark
  4. What about failing? Beached whale is an important part of the climber's repertoire, just like the knee-up or belly-crawl along a ledge. I disagree. I thought the belly-crawl was the beached whale. Clearly you guys have more experience in these techniques than I do. Unfortunately...yes. But if you climb Wonderland in Squamish, you'll know what I mean about the belly crawl. Kind of like the army crawl, but with more exposure.
  5. What about failing? Beached whale is an important part of the climber's repertoire, just like the knee-up or belly-crawl along a ledge.
  6. Thanks! I just climbed Sahale a few days ago, and Ingalls was the first alpine climb we both did. Black Peak looks beautiful.
  7. I've been trying to do a linkup of all 5 peaks for over a year, but I'm struggling with finding a partner. Looks amazing, nice work!
  8. Pics from Sahale Arm: http://www.summitpost.org/object_list.php?parent_id=150220&object_type=3 You will never forget it. Oh, and make sure to go higher than Cascade Pass, up the Sahale Arm- the extra 4 miles roundtrip make it at least 3 times better.
  9. My dad will be home this week and we were looking for something to climb. Daytrip would be preferable. Alpine rock and glacier are both okay. What are some classic routes that can be done in a day? (We were going to do Rainier Thursday-Friday, but the forecast looks horrible.) -Mark
  10. Nice! I climbed Sahale yesterday, looked at Boston Peak and said, "Screw that." Way to go!
  11. Cascade Pass- Sahale Arm. It's about 11 miles round-trip with between 4,000 and 5,000 feet of elevation gain. Also, it's in the most beautiful place in Washington, the North Cascades.
  12. You'll be shitting yourself till you're 80, and then it's okay.
  13. I "climbed" Free Range Chook and Eso No Se Hace today- they are clean and worth a trip, especially if you are up near the Upper Walls anyway.
  14. Yeah, I gardened all along the length of Fenderfour's trail and added quite a bit more to it, all the way to a very large roof. It's worth checking out if you're up there.
  15. I completed my Eagle Scout project today. I improved the old Shady Lane trail at Index (down and left of Davis-Holland) and built it a good bit more forward, all the way to the large roof. A crude path is also marked with pink flagging tape to connect to the descent trail, and a few hours of hard work would connect the two and improve access further. I'm hoping this trail will allow more people to climb and develop Shady Lane- Free Range Chook and Eso no se Hace look pretty clean right now. -Mark
  16. Over the course of a couple months, I have seen the price of Aliens go all over the place. They seem to be back down. What happened? Supply and demand? And what's the going price for them right now? -Mark
  17. I am looking for a partner for Index on Friday. I have a rope and a rack, lead 5.9, follow easy-mid 5.10. PM or call: 425-387-5677 -Mark
  18. No volunteers. It's just trail work, nothing ridiculous.
  19. This is physically painful.
  20. Because TAPE IS AID, dammit!
  21. For kicks. I figured I would admit that I've almost climbed Mount Adams. For kick...ing your climbing partners in the balls?
  22. Sorry for the crosspost. I'm having trouble finding volunteers. http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/971100#Post971100 -Mark
  23. Not yet for tomorrow...you interested?
