  1. I have a #2 Forged Friend. It's vintage. I don't think it's taken a lead fall yet, but who knows. I'm not the first owner. It was probably actually first used by Ray Jardine. $175, this is a good deal. I'm only selling it so cheap because I'm thinning out my rack.
  2. I am passionate about climbing. It really guides me through everyday life to some extent and dominates my dreams. The problem is, every one of my regular partners seems to be busy every single weekend, and I have been able to go climbing only about once per month since the beginning of the year. Well, summer is coming up, and I want to improve my climbing skills and to fully experience the Cascades before I leave for college in a little over a year. I am looking for partners to go climbing with me. I love both alpine climbing and cragging. I'm in it for the companionship as well as the route, and I'd love to meet some new people. I am currently leading about 5.8 trad and trying to make the push to 5.9. I love multipitch! My goals for the summer include: -Traverse of the Liberty Bell group -Exfoliation Dome, West Buttress -Forbidden Peak, West Ridge -Mt. Baker, North Ridge -Outer Space -Silent Running However, I am open to other route ideas also. Please PM me or call me. My number is 425-423-9385. Happy climbing, Mark
  3. if the guidebook says 9+ you should be expecting 10c. 5.9+: the grade old climbers give anything harder than 5.9 because they don't want to admit that the YDS is an open-ended scale now. -Mark
  4. Wow! Maybe that's the place to go when weather is unpredictable. I'm just afraid of slabs in the rain, but I suppose the more popular routes are well-equipped for bail. Nice!
  5. What's the Ice Cliff look like right now?
  6. I would love to join up. I'm on summer break starting June 11th, but I will be gone from June 23rd-July 4th and another week in July. However, I pretty much have the rest of the summer off. Forbidden Peak and Outer Space are near the top of my list in climbing goals, and I'll take a look at some of the other routes too. I can lead 5.7 in the alpine, follow 5.9 alpine, and a little harder at the crags. -Mark
  7. The largest piece I have is a #3 Camalot. I'm not solid at 5.9 yet, but I'd like to be. I haven't done any 5.9 leads yet, but I plan on it soon. Say I whip from the worst possible scenario on Timberjack/Gorilla my Dreams. Would the bolts on either one hold?
  8. Are Gorilla My Dreams or Timberjack runout? They sound hard...but I'll go up there for sure!
  9. Should I do this route in two days or three? I might be going with my dad as a carryover, down the DC. My dad is afraid of this route- he doesn't have any ice climbing experience (I have some, enough to confidently lead the ice steps). I told him that terrain hazards would not be as high in earlier season. We both have glacier travel experience and we both know crevasse rescue and rope management. Would this be a safe alternative to the crowds of the DC? I'd like to take a unique route up Rainier because I want to experience the serenity and beauty of less-traveled routes. -Mark
  10. I have topped out on the 3rd pitch of Great Northern Slab quite a few times and always wondered what is above it. Has anybody been up there? Anything notable? -Mark
  11. A0 once I finish bolting it.
  12. Post a TR if you go- I would like to know what conditions are like on the Nisqually Icefall. I can't go though. -Mark
  13. I am also looking for partners. I can lead 5.7-5.8 trad, WI2-3, and I'm fine with alpine routes. I have mountaineering first aid training as well. I have gear but no car, and I live in Everett. I am very open to most kind of climbing and hoping to get on some routes like Forbidden Peak and Exfoliation Dome this summer. I am perfectly open to other suggestions as well! I'm just passionate to get out to do something that I love and meet new people as well. If anybody (OP or otherwise) is interested, please send me a PM. I am a junior in high school, so I am going to be around a lot of the summer, especially mid-late July and August. -Mark
  14. What the hell is that thing you're reaching for?
  15. I live in Everett and I don't have a car, but I'd love to spend a weekend in Leavenworth if you would like. I lead about 5.7-5.8 trad.
  16. Hahaha sorry for the misinterpretation then.
  17. I think that's exactly what he doesn't want. I hate it when people try to "keep an eye" on me when I am climbing just because I am under 18. However, I agree that this is just another publicity stunt. If he really cared about climbing, he'd work on some new routes in his local alpine area.
  18. Perhaps all the cam colors will be changed to different shades of red, with sizes being told apart mainly by the presence of either a star, a hammer, or a sickle. OK OK I'm just trolling now...
  19. I would love to go rock/alpine climbing on Sunday. I am up for just about anything, just give me a call or send me a PM. 425-423-9385
  20. I would love to go anywhere it is sunny. I am in Everett. I have a rope and rack, but no car. -Mark
