  1. Dudes got one post. Am I missing something?
  2. Yep Nate a auto-look device is key on multi-pitch. Gri-gri's certainly have there place on multi-picth and are also great for aid belay (especially when climbing with Ivan). Not only can you tend to the i-pod but also chain smoke, drink wine photog and take a leak on a long belay. Oh wait I guess it does encourage laziness
  3. Anyone has the right to voice there opinion on the issue regardless of if it's in line with mine or yours. I myself am not exactly saying that Beacon should be open year round..... I would only like to see planning as it relates to the falcons and the climbers be consistent with laws and statutes set forth by state and federal government and not policy by “well this is how it is” ya know like the whole trail thang
  4. that could be a fun party - unless it's like the commenting period option that arthur dent got in the hitchhiker's guide prior to the earth's demolition for an interstellar freeway be sure to bring ur towel
  5. Yep... This is all foggy at best no? It does appear that all Wash State Parks are updating or creating Park Management Plans in conjunction with the 2013 centennial . According to the website: The planning process, also known as the Classification and Management Planning (CAMP), includes four stages: 1.Identify issues and concerns of park stakeholders. 2.Explore alternative approaches to address identified issues. 3.Prepare preliminary recommendations to address issues or suggest a realistic compromise. 4.Propose final recommendations for formal agency and Commission adoption. “Each park planning project will go through these four stages or some similar variation, depending on the particular park. People are encouraged to participate at every stage of a planning project. The process also reflects the standards set out in the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and information collected through the planning effort will be used to satisfy SEPA requirements.” Although Beacon Rock is not currently listed on the website a phone conversation indicated that the Beacon staff are working towards updating there management plan. As part of the updating process the public will be given the opportunity to comment on the plan.......
  6. My guess is it's in the out of date 2002 Washington Peregrine Falcon Status Report. However, I have not found it yet.
  7. Okay Joe or anyone else that gives a fawk specifically Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 makes it unlawful to pursue, hunt, take, capture, kill or sell birds. This has nothing to do with protecting nests......
  8. Joe specifically what law are you referring to? I have complete faith that what you are saying is true.... Just looking for some clarification and education on the matter. Are you talking endangered species act, sate law, forest practice regulation.
  9. Thanks for the background Joe. As I said I am new to the whole issue.... Aside from your para-legal experience have u consulted with someone specializing in environmental law?
  10. I feel a survey coming on. So how many gun totin cc'ers are there out there. U'll shot ur eye out
  11. I don't know but put me on the list for one
  12. As pointed out this is a great start (or continuation)... In my little engineering brain it seems with all the educated people interested in this topic we could come up with an added scientific (or/and legal) approach to supplement simply detailing what is observed out there..... BTW anyone have a copy of the current management plan for the falcons? Curious on how sound there science is or is this just what “I” say goes. Has an external proposal to allow climbing year round been formally proposed? By law WA State Park must consider external proposal for use on public land and requires NEPA SEPA analysis if the proposal is deemed valid. Or perhaps I'm missing something. Im new here
  13. Joe will u be the sole author of this journal? How often do u plan to monitor?
  14. Pretty sure he click or clack was working on packin one. Although there was certainly no issues with cell coverage as I was rockin Pandora on my blackberry all day. Next time I will follow Ivan’s lead and make the grueling approach with sixer in hand
  15. Made it out Saturday with half the Tappet brethren. Not sure if I was soloing with Click or Clack? Cool place if ur a 5.12 + climber or a aid climber looking for a workout and shelter from the rain. BTW if Ivan or Jeff wants to pipe in and let me know how the heck u pull off a weekend trip to Zion over V-day weekend that would be much appreciated
  16. [video:youtube]
  17. Nice Ian let's see Forrest's vid
  18. Not going to argue about LCK being the man but he does not work for WaDFW
  19. Joe were u involved in the discussions? Could u cross post ur earlier comment about the decision. If what u say is fact then BRSP employees must regularly lie to the public when they call up?
  20. BTW Nate Ur entitled to ur own opinion and I am sure u are a pleasant guy, but ur post makes u look like a real d-bag. Just sayin.... Hardman
  21. A decision on keeping the trail closed or opening it should be made in the next two weeks as the powers that be return..... If u do call to inquire about the closure please be diplomatic as they are at least still considering what to do
  22. the north side has been climbed on for many years. in 2001 guy pinjuv and i almost climbed a "new" line to the summit but were stopped about a pitch short. beautiful up there. whereabouts? where did you start/end? did you see any old gear along the way and did you leave any? it is the beatard season for poking round up there afterall. Cool pic LCK. Like Steve I always thought that portion of the north side was closed. Its great to see some old gear up there. A reclamation sounds like a cool idea and I'd be willing to help explore. Or perhaps I will let someone else due all the leg work and reap the benefit when its done
  23. Lots o posthoein on the approach
  24. Second that Joe USAA is hands down the best! Aside from my normal insurance's I was able to pick up renters insurance that covers something like $15,000 for less than $25/month. This insurance also covers stuff stolen from my car. Hey wait I work in Eugene maybe I'll park my rig somewhere downtown with my rack in it and see if I can be lucky enoguh to relpace all the used cams I've bought I will keep an eye out Taylorm
