I saw that a while ago; made me laugh. It was posted on ST which brought out some great comments the best of which was Jeff Lowe completely agreeing with him.

I don't know much more than what I stated earlier since I'm pretty new to touring.

If you can find an alpine boot with a reasonable walk mode that may be the easiest option. Skinning through flat terrain in a foreward lean stance sucks. I hate to say it but they do make Jr. sized telemark boots down to size 19 mondo. -
I just back from snowshoeing up Hollyburn which is above the Cypress ski resort cross country ski area. The skiing isn't amazing but it's a good little jaunt for how close it is to the city. We saw about a half dozen skiers up there today. Another popular spot is the area around Brockton point on Mt. Seymour. I think those areas are a better option than Grouse. If you're willing to drive for about an hour then the Elfin Lakes area in Squamish is a nice but extremely popular area.

It's only ~$40 in Vancouver at MEC or Valhalla Pure. I opted to do it at the shop since I didn't want to screw up my expensive boots. I guess that doesn't help much but I can't believe they charge $80 where you are.

So where does the Kendal Mint Cake fit in?

I have a really hard time keeping track of kids in airports. Maybe 2 at most. Oh... in a fight. I read on a flight.

I've never understood lobster gloves. The increase in dexterity is small compared to the loss of warmth. Oh wait, you use them biking so two fingers on the brake two on the bar. I get it.

I thought those were stink lines.

If you haven't already seen it there are more opinions over at tetongravity. I'm a fan of short fat skis although I don't have much experience on modern boards. As mentioned on every ski thread I've posted to I'm on 168 Gotamas @ 150#, 5'8"

poocano anyone?

Great, this has turned into a alcohol allergy confessional.

He doesn't seem to have that gray complexion. I'm going with the $6,000,000 man.

or surgically implanted in his eye.

A shot of vodka and my sister will be throwing up for ~3 days starting within an hour of consumption.

I thought this was going to be about God.

Yes, but as was established earlier this year, most of Whistler's visitors come from WA & BC...... I think more money comes from further though. $67 for a day of skiing with a bag lunch Vs. ~$2000 for a family of 4 for the weekend with accom.

Since I understood zero of the physiology described all I can provide is some anecdotal information. I met a doctor a few years ago who damaged one of the ligaments in his knee. All his doctor buddies told him to get knee surgery to get it over with. He decided that the damage from surgery would be worse than what he had done and went on a rigorous physio routine in order to strengthen everything around the knee. He has since done an iron man. From that I would say that if the damage is not severe enough to completely destroy the stability of your knee you should invest some time in some physio to strengthen the system supporting the knee. Sometimes knowledge breeds paranoia.

I'm 5'8", 150# and ride Volkl Gotama 168's with dynafits and megarides. I'm loving the short fat ski (105mm waist). They provide lots of float in deep snow, great skinning grip and the short length makes for super easy kick turns. I've used them in various conditions now and love them. My skinny ski friends love following the wide skin track I leave behind. The compromise is that they're a little on the heavy side. I decided that a little higher performance on the downhill is worth the weight penalty. I personally would go for something a little wider than the Bakers or Shuksans. Something like the BD Verdict. The length sounds about right though. It really depends on what you want to use them for.

My sister is violently allergic to vodka and can only really drink gin and tequila. I have a friend that bounces any kind of single malt whiskey. So no, you're not alone.

Although tourism and exports are suffering as well as the movie industry the strength of the dollar shows that the rest of the Canadian economy is doing well in spite of all that. We have a centralized banking system that allows for greater control over the value of the dollar. The Bank of Canada can make a slight change in interest rates and the amount of currency in print which can easily drop the value of the dollar. They have shown no intentions of doing that soon even though it has been requested by all of the export industries. I wouldn't say that the US is fine and will continue to be fine. There are some incredibly difficult times ahead with Iraq that will have lasting effects on the world. I think the only way the US will get out of it is if they're bailed out by the UN. I'm still hopeful though since we are inextricably tied to the States.

I'm allergic to vodka! That's just cruel! Reminds me of when my floor mates in University decided to play a prank on a friend. They knocked on his door and covered his head in peanut butter only to discover he has a peanut allergy. An epipen shot and a rush to the hospital later he was fine. Oh what fun we had.
