  1. http://www.supertopo.com/climbers-forum/1185163/To-the-Trundlers-Who-Almost-Killed-me I thought it was some good stuff to think about when cleaning routes for development. Plaidman
  2. Let's hope not. If it was the guide failed.
  3. Another reason for me not to go up there: Dangers at Altitude * Retinal haemorrhages – bleeding from the cells at the back of the eye – are a relatively common complaint of mountain climbers. High altitude causes the blood to thicken, increasing blood pressure, which can lead to the seepage of blood from cells into surrounding tissues. * Some researchers have found that more than a quarter of climbers on an Everest expedition are affected by retinal haemorrhages. Normally, they are minor, with no noticeable effect on vision, and resolve themselves within weeks of a return to low altitudes. But in Peter Kinloch's case it appears the effects were acute and extreme, causing total loss of vision, which led to deadly consequences.
  4. I've been told by experts it's a choss pile.
  5. Oh I will be right on the end of it shitting my drawers!
  6. WOW and conditions don't look good. Sending good vibes to the missing and the searchers. Plaidman
  7. Went out last week and jugged the rope 3x and led a 5.12 solo aid to get the rope up. I am headed to the Butte later today as suggested. Thanks. Plaidman
  8. Thank you. Just asking.
  9. I am not sure I want to look like that.
  10. On my third try, I did the math correctly, and I concur with 72.8 feet Holy Holy. Most people lower themselves out for this jug on the Leaning Tower, but my big wall guide friend says take the swing. It's a blast. 400 feet in the air.
  11. Thanks for throwing out an answer. It doesn't really matter how far it is. It will be fun.
  12. That is a real long way. Are you sure about that?
  13. I estimated about 40 feet. Thanks for the quick answer.
  14. Not really. Just trying to figure out how far away from a cliff face would you be if you were jugging a rope that was 200 feet long on a 110 degree average slope? Silly question. But fun to muse about. I remember that the hypotenuse of a right triangle is a2 + b2 = c2 but if you no longer have a right angle and the angle is 110 degrees what formula do you use? HMMMMM? 15. Are them birds flying yet? I heard they were.
  16. I just got back from camping on the east side of Mt. Hood. Not much rain just a few sprinkles.
  17. I go over The Bridge of The Gods most times when going to Beacon Rock.
  18. This is almost better:
  19. This is that clip from Monty Python about climbing the sidewalk. It is one of my favorites of all time. Plaidman
  20. Can we start a new thread for Scott Kelly?
  21. I am going to Yosemite.
  22. That is off the hook funny. Can we see it on Broadway. I will buy a ticket.
  23. Taken care of. I am leaving on the 1st of June. The Prow or west face of Leaning Tower. WHAA HPOOOOO!!!!!
