I might be going to Mackenzie over spring break (largest tree crusher place) I heard theres lots of ice climbing there but does anybody know where I can find info about the ice there?

ya, their good when it gets really cold! but I found out that if the water is completely fresh it can penetrate the membrane of the gloves!

you know the climbing is especially intense when you are wearing jeans! lol

Trip: Extreme ice soloing in.... Mike's back yard! - Date: 2/8/2008 Trip Report: I went to my friend Mike's house in chilliwack after school last week and climbed some of the most (un)exiting ice in my life. I'm planning on soloing the cheam range traverse, climbing Yak Check, slesse NE butress, Baker N ridge, Rexford East Ridge, and a trip to climb Sir Donald NW Arete. yay!

look out! the avalance warning for the North Shore is 'Extreme' for this weekend..

Both of those ideas went through my head... Tha approach to the NE Ridge is way harder than the gully to the NW face just getting to the peak will take most of a day, If I cross the Angel and head SW to the base of the SW ridge I can probably make the Lady Knight col on the First day. The only reason I want to go out Lucky Four is because its more of the cheam ridge route than cutting back into Williamson and isnt that long... I might come down Williamson Lake though if I'm tired and want to go home or something.

I love being 15, I can do three sets of 25 followed by 40 chin ups!

My cunning plan is to solo the cheam ridge traverse starting with the N or NW side of cheam and ending down the Lucky four Trail over the course of four days this spring. I was wondering when you more experienced guys think the conditions are best for this, as in the scree fields are coveres in snow but not to much of a cornice/ Avalanche problem. I really need the west face of welch to be in good shape for it to work out well, I was thinking anywhere between mid april to early June for this trip... does this sound about right?

because its fun and makes me feel unusually hardcore..

climbing compared with other sports... Hockey = a bunch of guys skating around playing with their sticks Volleyball = A bunch of guys jumping around hitting balls Skateboarding = Abunch of guys playing with their wood. climbing = guys grabbing jugs and jamming their big nuts in deep cracks. I guess climbing is the manliest sport ever then!

avalances are very scary, I saw a big avalance come off of cheam the other day actually! I'm planing an taking an avalance course too so I found this avalance thread about avalance courses very helpful!

Im jealous, I hiked up Elk mtn and almost died putting up a sick new line on Hopyard Hill!

I didnt cheat... I made the thread longer!.. by almost a page

i really like my single 70m rope for leading long pitches and stuff... but its too long ond heavy for when I only need to lead a 10m pitch... I want to get a single 50m rope and single 70 and that is enough ropes for me for rock climbing... ice climbing is a whole different story

haha I get it, i just want to see how long this thread can get!

i f^&king hate how much the ropes get in the way but double 60s make for a quicker rap descent...
