  1. Now I don't pretend to know Rob as well as you do, KKK - but he often posts clear opinions on a variety of subjects, and, while he is naturally sarcastic (a trait which is seldom appreciated by those who don't quite get the joke) he seems pretty tame over all. I know his opinions on complex matters may not be as well thought out or stated as your own, but he's trying. With enough positive examples from folks like you, he'll get there eventually. But hey, I wouldn't know, really. Haven't catalogued and analyzed his posts as you have. Oh, and I'm selling something you might be interested in: Apollo projection screen - $80
  2. That blame esta occupado, I'd wager.
  3. Finger cramps, perhaps. Not enough electrolytes.
  4. Anyone know if the TLT Mountain TF-X fits that same as the standard model, or does a thicker liner mean less width in the toe box? Colleen's shopping for boots this week.
  5. Wouldn't a free market be inherently communist?
  6. JoshK's had some success widening the toebox of his TLT shells. You might PM him for details if that's your wish.
  7. The hairless monkey loves a good backstory. The less real information a monkey has, the more baroque the backstory. This is how one gets from questioning the premise and sincerity of outrage after N Korea's 3rd nuclear test to CC.com posters giving the rotting corpse of Stalin regular blowjobs. Mostly, folks here rail against that which they perceive offends them. Moochers are a big Bogie Man for the Right, for example. "I didn't bootstrap my self up from slavery to sit and watch while..." The process of generalization and targeting then begins. By the end of the process, some CC poster who makes a pretty limited observation is *actually* using his trust fund to finance an international program of shooting babies in the face and gleefully selling the leftovers to the Asian aphrodisiac industry. It's human nature. Some who fancy themselves above the milieu might think they're immune from this primal trait - to the even greater amusement of their observers. Mostly, though, its just simple tit for tat. Your online nemesis thinks its cold? You slam the thermostat off. Too warm? You slam it to 11. The reality is, of course, that few posters here really know each other at all. For example, I know four sprayers personally - I've met a handful of others on occasion. That's my reality, anyway. I find it helpful to keep that reality in mind.
  8. If they are playing the 'pay me to stop' game, which it seems they are, then testing a nuke every now and then could be a profitable venture. It seems like it has been in the past. In addition, it is a powerful 'do not fuck with me' message. The threat, of course, is not that N Korea will go toe to toe with America in a strategic nukular exchange. Rather, any conflict with N Korea will put America at odds with China, put S Korea at risk of bombardment from 70,000 artillery pieces, or increase that risk that N Korean missiles and bomb materials will magically find their way into the hands of Da Evil Doers. So, yes, if you're a resource poor, inefficient, totalitarian regime who wants to keep the lid on your closed society, blowing off a mini-nuke now and then to remind the world that you're still capable of farting in its closet is perfectly rational...if you've got the leverage do pull it off. N Korea clearly does. 'Rational' is from the regime's standpoint, of course. The regime certainly isn't crazy - they've pulled off a 60+ year long remake of 1984 - quite an accomplishment really, and one no that few, if any, regimes have even come close to topping. So, no, I'm not on the 'LIKE IF YOU'RE OUTRAGED' wagon regarding N Korea's third fireworks display (OUTRAGEOUS!!!). Generalize that to mean I fully support the N Korean regime, with all its civil rights abuses, as needed.
  9. My point was the one I made. N Korea's following a rational course, they already had nukes, and there's little cause for outrage, most of which, I suspect, is street theatre anyway. You may continue to run with it in the KKK fashion, but it just makes you appear less intelligent than I suspect you actually are.
  10. I iced it with snow and treated with vit i the first 24 hrs. Walking now, running in a few days. I'll try stretching it today using some of the suggestions here to see how that goes. Thanks, all. Hey, beats landing on the other end.
  11. It's quite a stretch between stating that outrage is not called for one a nation merely parrots the behavior of another and giving everyone nukes, and my hamstring isn't gonna handle that right now.
  12. Never forget that N Korea imports 100% of its fuschia fabric.
  13. I can safely say that Mr. Kaplan and myself should be excluded from the list of citizens allowed to own such devices, should they become available in the future.
  14. They announced they would suspend their program to allow inspections - no dates or time limits, but never signed any treaties or anything. They've played this game before, so this behavior is to expected. The US reneges on 'verbal commitments' all the time. They are the Bad Teenager of Asia, fo sho.
  15. Why all the outrage? N Korea is simply following the same military strategy we have. Given that the US a) invented nuclear weapons b) is the only country to have used them in warfare and c) maintains nearly 10,000 nuclear warheads today What can the US really say about N Korea's 3rd nuclear test that isn't patently hypocritical? I know, I know...this observation means I love communism and sleep with Kim Jong Un. I do like Korean food.

Been there, done that. Unless there'a a concerted letter writing campaign that aggregates a bunch of like minded messages in a well timed salvo (when a bill is being debated, etc) the sad fact is that writing your congressman is pretty much a waste of time. Like all politics, its a numbers/timing game.

Me neither. My GF caught the show at a friend's house - it's actually subtitled. She came home with a big ole WTF? face. I've never had the pleasure of seeing it, myself. It's kind of like projectile vomiting - I know it exists, but I'll pass on the mini series.
  18. Type II - no surgery needed. Not too bad. Stretches or exercises for faster recovery?
  19. Endurolytes or equivalent. I've used them many times to cure muscle cramps in both myself and others. Works quite fast, too, even with severe cramping in large muscles like your glutes. A cyclist friend had a bad cramp in her ass - after 2 Endurotytes, it was gone within 10 minutes. Adventure racers use them religiously. The difference between having them and not is stark. I spent an evening writhing in leg cramps after a full day long trail run because I'd forgotten them. Popped one per hour during summer temps and never had a cramp, even during 12 hour runs. Science may or may not know all there is to know about cramps, but endurance athletes know how to prevent and cure them.

Imagine being the The Shooter. Now, this guys believes in what he did 100%. His country was screaming for revenge. He personally delivered. He comes back, and.... Every single fucking aspect of the mission is widely criticized, doubted, and marginalized. Showing our weakness by giving the body a Muslim burial. Showing our insensitivity by not giving the body a Muslim burial. Where IS the body? SHOW US THE BODY. Millions don't even believe this guy risked his life to shoot anyone that night. Then...it's off to the movies. Pro Obama. Pro torture. Anti Obama. What a shit show. And what a nation of shitty, small minded, Honey Boo Boo watching trailer dwellers. I'm as anti-war as it gets, but these guys deserve better. Way, way better.

Me pa put 30 years in the Navy. He suffered strokes which eventually required a home care person to visit on the daily basis. Did his benefits cover it? Nope. He died before my ma ran out of money. The military did lift him and my ma out of New York's tenements. Moving a family out of poverty is no small thing - it is often a permanent change. All 7 of us graduated from college. None of my Pa's 12 siblings did, including him until he was in his 50s. It paid for much of his college after he retired through the GI bill. Combat medics fresh out of Vietnam stitched us up when we fell down. The commissary provided us with discounted food, although we did get a bit sick of Product 19 cereal and fish sticks. Our family is grateful for that. It fell short when he was no longer of any use to anyone, however. The most insulting part is what folks would tell Mom when she explained her situation. "Did you check all your benefits?" Um...yes, she bothered to do that. Like folks refused to believe that Our Great Nation would leave one of its career servicemen out to dry like that, choosing instead to cast doubt on my mother's competence. This is the same cow-eyed infantilism that is shocked to discover (or refuses to accept) that America has the worst health care system in 30 1st world countries, the highest incarceration rate in the world, and the widest income gap among modern nations. Any who works for a different future, who attempts to recognize our enormous problems so as to make this a better place, is marginalized as either dysfunctional or disloyal. This is AMERICA - not only does our shit not stink, it CAN'T stink. This junkyard dog response to proposed reform is nothing new to anyone on this forum, of course. God forbid we should tackle difficult, long term projects and make progress. Let's blow some shit up in some 3rd world shithole, instead. This is an old story. A society will jump at the chance to buy a new weapon, but when it comes time to take care of its old warriors, somehow, other priorities...like new weapons, seem to soak up the money, first. BTW, Fox is currently trying to publicly trash The Shooter. The guy who shot Bin Laden. Righties, you are AWESOME.
  24. I just thread the cord through both grommets with a stop knot on both ends, and tighten it with a piston hank/drawstring stop (all plastic, including the spring, so no rust) located aft (outside) of the back grommet. Just pull (the hank) back and you have access to your boots. It's worked great for about 3 years of heavy use for the kind of quick transitions required for AT skiing - opening and closing can be done quickly without removing your mittens.
  25. Angry bums rule.
