  1. Persuasion by 'fuck you'...a strategy not unknown to the tea baggers on this site, and one that will be every bit as effective. The GOP leadership despises the Palins of the world...far, far more than their Democratic 'opponents'...who are actually long term friends and colleagues for the most part. The tea baggers haven't yet figured out that the GOP considers them 'other'. They will in a few weeks. To me, they're just a bunch of dumbshit Kochsuckers.
  2. That's better.
  3. I 'guided' a friend's 20 year old son for 6 days in the Cascades in just such a manner and it was a great experience for both of us. I mulled it over for about 6 months and went on a shorter 'test' climb before finally agreeing to do it, and am really glad i did. Sure, it's an unusual post, but it certainly doesn't warrant the derisive responses regarding 'obituaries' and the like...from moderators no less. Christ.
  4. I think you are reading it wrong. For far too long have representatives acted outside the interest of their constituents (Republicans and Democrats). I don't think that it matters if the candidate is further right or left, just not the incumbent. FWIW I think you'll see the GOP get behind these new candidates rather quickly since they have no choice. I also don't think it'll help Democrats unless they can turn the economy around between now and November. Past elections indicate that the GOP probably won't get behind these rogue candidates, nor will centrist GOP voters. As Repubs are chronically outnumbered by Dems, simple arithmetic would predict that tea baggers, despite all their bluster, will be as disappointed as their GOP rivals this November. Call it a conservative dot com bubble.
  5. Sarah Palin on a Burger King diet. But she'll win in Biden's district without RNC support, no problem.
  6. just a wee bit premature, considering that the trial hasn't even started.
  7. No Republican votes were needed. Obama made the mistake of thinking the opposition would be needed. The opposition made the mistake of proving him wrong.
  8. If i was only smart enough to play that stupid
  9. what's really rich is that "pay to play" (user fees) has become generalized in direct response to tax cuts advocated and won by the so-called "small government" (cough, cough) crowd that has been in charge for the last 30+ years. Do try to be consistent. While giving props to the program at Denali the fact remains that, at its core, it is an unnecessary governmental endeavor. Calling for smaller government while decrying the cost/benefit ratio of a pay-to-play scheme that isn't needed to begin with is not inconsistent at all. Do we really need an expensive government enclave at 14,000 feet? Unless you'd prefer draggin a sled through the tiaga for 2 weeks to add McKinley to your brag list, and camp in a poo garden (with the occasional body added for ambience), or, not climb the mountain at all, yes the enclave is needed. BTW, its not at 14000. Not even close. Its also not that expensive an enclave, particularly considering the traffic that goes through it.
  10. It is a nation of whiners. LOL you're way funnier than someone who actually comes up with this shit on purpose
  11. after a few have already slipped under the wire already
  12. These new fees are all occurring under a big-government spend-thrift administration, and they are complete BS. You're needed back in the Rocket Science forum
  13. Soros gives money to promote what he believes is in the public good. The Kochs give money exclusively to directly serve their corporate interests, often (as in the case of their anti environmental regulation efforts) at the public's expense. For some, there's a clear and obvious distinction. For others, not so much.
