I have nothing against the severely retarded either.

Clearly, Iran needs more guns.

Fuckin' bears think they own the joint.

Just back from Alberta, where handguns are illegal and 'long guns' require a license. My God, the oppression there....

I'd appreciate it if you guys would respect my privacy by not posting pics of my servant's quarters on the internutz. -
Clearly, the problem is not enough guns.

Bet he voted for Nader.

You'd think a guy with a name like "I'm-a-dinner-jacket" would get out more.

Bill's not mildly retarded.
-
Yeah, cuz like, if MR. Bill lived down there, he'd go toe to toe with the cartels, no problem. Hell, he might even just post pics of his gun collection and watch those pussies melt into the shadows.

Yeah, you folks would sure like that wouldn't you? Down the old memory-hole, eh? Nothing to see here. Back to the ol' tax-cuts, deregulation, privatization, union-busting, and the rest for us. Yep, for as much as you pretend can't abide Palin and the rest Jay, I'd say the Party of No (Fucking Idea) suits you just fine. Just a reminder: We're talking about state and local budget shortfalls. Nothing that anyone at the state and local has any discretion over is going to have any effect whatsoever on any of the macro trends that you'll go to your grave impotently railing on about. In order to deliver the current level of services, state and local officials have a menu consisting of three options. The can raise taxes, cut services, and/or cut compensation. That's all that they can influence, and that's really all that it makes sense to discuss in the context of funding state and local government. Thanks for the meta-analysis, though. Would have been better if you'd spiced it up with something about heternormative neoclassical class-imperialism, IMO. ...or pass reform legislation that reduces the need for services, then cut those service. Small but important omission. Guess its one that lives in 'rootcauseland'. Well within reach, however, IMO. But then, I'm not a 'conservative'.

I'm not talking about admins (secretaries) dumbshit. I'm talking about higher echelon administration...of which there are several levels. Jesus, you're smarter than that.

Join the debate? Hardly. The purpose of our committee is to determine whether or not our Washington State chapter's existing 2nd amendment policy should change or not. We are free to differ from our national policy, BTW. In any case, it's a very limited goal. Our organization does not intend to expend any resources on 2nd amendment issues one way or the other. We've got more important fish to fry with our limited money and manpower. One thing we will discuss, however, is the basis by which we abandon support for the 2nd Amendment in favor of focusing on others we consider more central and universal to civil liberties worldwide (personal gun ownership clearly NOT being central to basic civil liberties, considering that most free, enlightened societies do not allow it, with no ill effect). I've argued that we should not promote civil liberties that directly promote to right to harm another human being, that our organization should be an explicitly non-violent one. Your post reveals that you, who apparently feels much stronger about the issue than do I, don't really understand the true significance, and lack thereof, of the recent SC decisions. From a practical standpoint, they are largely irrelevant. 48 states already grant the right to own firearms for personal protection. From a constitutional standpoint, however, these decisions are much more significant. You'd have to understand the concept and precedence of 14th amendment pass-through and all that. This isn't the forum for such an involved topic, however. One thing that all constitutional scholars agree on: the wording the 2nd amendment is laughably ambiguous and just plain poor.

My addiction is running strong today. Plus, I've been 'under busy' this week, having put in many, many hours last week.

Which, for a record, I don't agree that that is the root cause of the problem. So the problem was caused by the economy shitting itself and staying that way due to deregulation, tax-holidays, offshoring, wage stagnation, and excessive credit, etc. BUT the problem is not going to get solved by looking into any of that shit, it's going to get solved by cutting the wages of bus drivers. OKEY-DOKEY! No, I outlined my solutions already. They're there for your perusal, and they don't involve cutting any bus driver wages.

Sweet. It should give you lots of time to insult those who don't agree with you, like all of the intolerants on this thread. Actually, I was invited to join based on past participation in various debates at our board meetings. The committee chair is an excellent constitutional law professor who is very well versed on the subject from a variety of angles - the main reason I'm interested. It's not a topic which invokes much passion in me otherwise. The board is hardly monolithic on the issue. In our discussions so far, you hear a wide range of viewpoints as to what our policy should be - pretty much a mirror image of the national debate - with your brand of kookiness removed, of course. We don't generally go for the kooky thing. Oh, the world is so rarely what it seems.

The best thing the Dems could do is coopt the [tiny] part of the teabagger message that actually makes sense: that government is wasting our money. It is. A lot. The baggers have absolutely no answer as to where that's happening, nor are they willing to trim the the God-Bless-American military, (and one wouldn't expect any from a mob of angry, brain-dead zombies yelling Hallmark card slogans) - so that's where reasonable people with functional brains come in. Rather than cut existing services by a certain percentage, we need to attack the root causes of why we're in the hole, other than 'the economy' of course: failed policies and the expensive infrastructure built to support them: War on drugs and a top heavy educational system with too many administrators and other clingons per teacher. After that, I'm all for ganging up on the rich and raping their wallets. They've been begging for a citizen revolt for a long, long time.

Within 2 years, not two years from now. It depends on what happens with CA's initiative. If it passes, certain groups (hint, hint) may mount an initiative, or they may continue to work through the legislature. The situation's pretty dynamic right now, the path with the most chance of success will be taken when the time comes. This is year 6 of a multi year campaign for drug policy reform, BTW. There have been lesser victories along the way. Kind of like climbing a mountain, especially if you're me. Real slow like. Anybody who really gives a shit about this issue should send a check to a certain organization. It's the only one that's got a prayer of getting anything through (and the leader of a coalition of other organizations working towards the same goal). Legalize pot and the vast majority of drug busts go away overnight.

What would call someone who believes that the only alternative to unfettered capitalsim is state capitalism? What would you call someone who systematically denies the social contract and the role of governmental institutions? etc .. KKK is like a thermostat with two settings: OFF and BOILING Age and experience will hopefully reveal the possibility of some inbetween settings....

BTW, I just joined the ACLU's new 2nd Amendment Policy Committee LOL. True story.
