Here's where I see it... I first noticed your great pictures and artistic abilities when I wandered in here around 2006. It did not take long for me to notice what an arrogant bully you are online. I could care less but I've just always had this thing about picking a fight with the bully. Your complete lack of any humility whatsoever, combined with your relentless bullying of whoever may disagree with you just feeds my appetite to flick you shit. I actually thought I might find the real Pat a kind, gentler person but he seems to be just as much of an asshole. I mention a comparison that anyone who uses/used drugs is the same as supporting the narco cartels is the same as you blaming anyone who still owns a gun as a "gun nut". Obviously, neither are correct in the real world. What do you do, take the cheap shot about me being drunk a day after I lost my family. Classy. Kicking a man when he's down, seems more like a Republican tactic instead of a lefty Dem. Just sayin. BTW, you have NO idea how often I resist the urge to call your BS. More often than not. At least when I am wrong, I will admit it and apologize, something I can't even fathom you are capable of. Based on your holier than though attitude and bully tactics you spew here, anyway. I don't think I'm alone in my opinion of you. I'd certainly enjoy seeing you eat a bit of humble pie but you are too smart to ever make a mistake so we all know that won't happen. Yes, the world revolves around Ivan but at least he is funny and self deprecating enough to keep us all pretty entertained. You guys probably make such a cute couple since you both have ego's the size of Texas. I just like his style of arrogance over yours. How many times have you been banned from this site for your relentless assholidness? Maybe you could take a clue and try not to be such a complete dick. I guess your not really trying as it comes so naturally to you, but you know what I mean. you pretty much hit the proverbial nail on the proverbial head on that one mister... dave, you're a cool dude! I just call em like I see em...

I only bring up Ivan's name cause he admittedly loves to drink like an Irishman. I've seen him plenty drunk, plenty of times but I recall you stating "I've never seen him sloppy drunk". Just goes to show you that you only see and hear what you want to. That's my only point. As far as the gun culture, that is a pretty broad brush. Kind of like lumping all "climbers" into one specific group. Guns are a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Not all gun owners are the same. A concept someone as smart as you should be able to grasp. I see your point, and it is valid to a degree. But, we are not going to remove all guns from our society so I want to at least teach my kids about them, the risks and dangers. Fuck you if you don't like it.

Perfect stranger? Like nobody has been reading your self congratulatory drivel for the past 5 years or so? You are consistently the most self absorbed egomaniac on this site. Incapable of making a mistake, let alone admitting to one. Sounds like a textbook egomaniac to me.
-
I'd rather teach my kids about guns, sex and drugs myself instead letting society do it. Guns are tools, just like a knife, a bat or a car. Any of which can be used for good or bad. I'd rather they know something about the subject instead of sticking my head in the sand and assume good ole merica and our schools will do it all for me. But when your buddy Ivan drinks, admittedly more than the average alcoholic, he's cool and has never been drunk around you. Yeah, whatever. Keep believing only what you want to and you'll always be the smartest guy in the room.

Um no, you saw me completely wasted a day after my life shattering divorce was final. Then one other time at Vantage. I don't recall having much conversation with you then but I was not sloppy drunk. I was quite mellow that last time I saw you. Hell, I was even a bit cordial. Go ahead and change the subject so you can hide behind your fucking ego and bullshit double talk... My weed is manna from heaven pure as the virgin mary. If you ever did drugs, you support the narco drug traffickers just as much as any gun owner is equally to blame for some nut job going postal. Why don't you take a bigger jab at me by belittling my failed marriage or remind me of what a terrible father I am to my kids?

I'm not sure what question you're asking, but as far as comparing "violent crime" rates, I think it's a very hard thing to do from country to country since countries vary on what types of crime constitute violent, and when they are reports (i.e. some countries only report violent crime convictions, while others report unsolved violent crimes). It sounds like the point you are trying to make is that actually, nothing is wrong. Am I misunderstanding you? Could you rephrase your question? It's pretty straight forward... What else can we do to STOP these nut jobs from going postal? Getting rid of guns is not the cure all. Tighter gun regulation is a small step in a much larger picture.

So, your saying emphatically, that you know exactly where all your pot came from? Every single bud for the past 25 years or however long you been partaking? You have never supported any organized crime with that habit, ever (knowingly or not)???

Hmm, let me think about that one. I never bought any guns, rather I inherited them as a child. So, I guess now your calling my Dad a fucking asshole too. Fuck you, prick. I'm normally very respectful of people here but you are just so fucking full of yourself I can't help but flick a bugger your way. Once again, you don't know diddle squat about me or my beliefs. Keep on thinking your god, a legend in your own mind. What a dick. As a matter of fact, the 44 mag that my dad bought when he was stationed in Alaska was for the weekends he would spend out in the bush fishing for days on end. Ya know, just in case a big old grizzly bear decided to eat him. He never needed it for that. However, there was the time before I was born and he was driving the family down some remote highway in Alaska when some "nut jobs" tried running the family wagon off the road for some sort of car jacking. Good thing the old Back Hawk was handy... The story goes that he got it about half way out the holster when the would be bad guys decided to move on down the road to find an easier victim. So yeah, guns can protect people too. Never owned a desert eagle. Hiding behind Dear Old Dad, huh? What, he gave you a lifetime supply of ammo, too? Talk to me when those weapons have been destroyed and thus taken out of circulation. Instead of (attempting to) teach your kids to perpetuate the problem, you know? I don't hide from pussies like you.

So, by that logic, your little bag o weed supports narco terrorists in Mexico. Of course, you have never bought a baggy that came anywhere but from the local peace and love hippy down on the corner. Your pot habit supports narco terrorists, your just as much a part of the problem as as the guys making and selling guns to the drug traffickers that bring you pot.

It doesn't matter what you say, it matters what you do. Fact of the matter is you oppose regulation and support financially a death industry. You can spin it whichever way you like, but simple statement was already describing it: T-A=0 Again, twist my words to make me the bad guy. Did you not read I SUPPORT stricter gun regulations? I am simply stating we need to look beyond just banning certain guns and dig deeper into why people end up going postal, more so here than other "civilized" countries. I'm not immune to changing my mind on any given subject. I'm simply asking, what is the deeper issue we need to solve here?...

Once again, you KNOW it ALL don't cha. What a fucking douche bag. I'm asking a question of how should we address the nut jobs, besides just new gun laws... I don't claim to know shit. Other than I can spot a fuk'n tool like you a mile a way. Your own sense of grandiosity is quite hilarious. You really do have a god complex, don't cha??? fuk'n tool!

I NEVER said more guns is the answer. I said banning certain guns won't get rid of the nut jobs. I don't own any AR type guns as I don't need one. I do own a few fire arms and will likely keep them forever. Fuck you too, asshole!

Excellent points. But do you think people in Europe are not bullied and humiliated at a young age like they are in America? I think you're right that Americans in general are fairly selfish. Do you think part of the problem may be the dumbing down of Americans? Hardly anyone reads anymore, and video media has become nothing more than short snippets, tiny sound bites, and almost zero in-depth analytic analysis. There is almost no context to anything anymore, and Americans are becoming woefully under-educated about even their own country's history and lack context for current events. America has a severe anti-intellectual problem -- I suspect a well-educated and enlightened citizenry would be less likely to shoot each other up. I wonder how much TV Europeans watch compared to Americans? I think the whole blame it on guns is a scapegoat for the bigger issues of how f'd up our society is and how selfish our priorities have become. I'm not against stricter gun regulations but that is merely a band aid to keep guns away from the nut jobs. Unfortunately, there are already so many guns available it will be little more than putting a finger in the dam to keep the water from flooding us. Wouldn't it be more productive to get to the source of the reasons for so many nut jobs instead of focusing on the weapons they pick up?

Stricter gun registration and closing the loop holes for private sales would be a start but I think the bigger problem is addressing why our society is so obsessed with senseless killing and violence in general. I'm sure the constant barrage of glamorized killing and violence that permeates our culture has nothing to do with it. It's all because ARs are legal to buy. Personally, I think we need to take a step back and look at our society as a whole, rather than just pigeon hole all our problems on those "gun nuts". As long as we continue to glorify violence, we will continue to reap the consequences of people going postal, with, or without assault rifles and 30 round magazines. How many of these nut jobs committing these attrocities were bullied and humiliated at a very young age? Alienating them from society because they don't "fit in". I think we, as mericans, are the most selfish and self serving people on the planet and we will continue down this destructive path so long as our hearts and minds are bowing to the blood sports that abound. Then again, I'm just another uninformed idiot so maybe Bill can get it right. Perhaps we could all emulate TTK's style of treating people. That would make a much better society, don't you think? Ya mean, belittle and demean any and everyone who does not agree with his trashmagesty? Let's all take a bow to THE KING OF THE ASSCANDLES. We're not worthy!!!

Then, we have the douche on the other end of the spectrum that THINKS he knows all. Just sayin. Thank you all mighty Trashie for enlightening all us idiots. Where would the world be without your saving intellect? Let's all take a moment to bow to the all mighty Trashie...

Yes, me too, Steve...

And a few long soaks in a bathtub full of ice...

yup (off route while doing a circuit hike in shenendoah n.p. and wandered into a veeeeery pissed off hunter pouring weapons out of every nook n'cranny), and i wouldn't be surprised if me having had a gun then wouldn't have made the whole scene much more intense and more likely to have gone badly (as it was i was extra polite and inquired into the shortest possible path off his property - i was young then - how many young guys are MORE polite when they're packing?) Last time I had a gun pointed at me was back in the day at a big party in the desert outside of Vegas. A bunch of gang bangers decided to take over and one put a shotgun to my face. I just said "I'm cool" and turned my back to the guy and walked away. All the while just waiting for him to blast me in the back. We decided to move on to another party. Good times. Yeah, if I was also packing, it may have gone down different. Or, the time we were doing doughnuts in an old gravel lot dubbed "queer's lane" and some old red neck pulls out a rifle and gives a warning shot at my buddy's old tuna boat of a car. Ahh, the joys of youth.

Have any of you ever been in a "situation" where all the other folks had gun(s), but you didn't? Just curious.
-
Sure, act now and you also get a purple heart. But wait, that's not all! I talked to my sales manager, and, you won't believe this, he's gonna throw in a congressional medal of honor. All for the low, low price of... *Some restrictions apply.

Or, maybe he's just reloding those AR magazines?...
