  1. Update: One last trip to the Gunks before my flight tomorrow. Here's CCK (5.7+), one of the best pitches anywhere in the US: We also did Ants' Line and Directissima (both 5.9), and I rocked the 5.6 offwidth on Baby.
  2. I donated $50 and I haven't even been there yet! Hopefully my donation will result in so much good karma that some knowledgeable locals will take me out and show me around this summer.
  3. Trip: USA - My Spring Climbing Season/Plea for Partners Date: 5/19/2010 Trip Report: I'm moving out to Seattle for the summer next week, and instead of posting a bare-bones partner request, I thought I'd recap my spring climbing season. If you like what you see, send me a PM and we'll meet up at the gym or go climbing on the weekends. The story starts in Utah in early March. After driving through the night from Vegas, I met my friends at the Woodbury Road Crags for some sport climbing: Here's me clipping on Shades of Grey, 5.11b Desert Scenery: Then it was off to Red Rocks for some sandstone. Here's looking down from the first anchor of Arch Enemy - this goes under the huge arch that forms the first few pitches of Solar Slab. We did Johnny Vegas to get up there. Squeeze chimney! Haute cuisine in the Borders parking lot: Crimson Chrysalis: Being an attentive belayer and avoiding clusters: I sadly left the desert, and headed back to New York. Some Gunks shots from the spring: Bonnie's Roof (5.9) on a lovely spring day: Getting into the business on V-3 (5.7), on not such a nice day: Then I had law school finals and didn't get to climbing for six weeks. But right after I turned in that last paper, I blasted off to North Conway for some sweet granite! Pine Tree Eliminate (5.8): More slabs than pro on Whitehorse: I worked on my crack technique on They Died Laughing (5.9) at Cathedral Ledge: I'll be in Seattle this weekend, and will be looking for partners on Monday and Tuesday. Approach Notes: Air, land, and sea
  4. Noted. I kind of thought proximity to beer would be an unspoken assumption of my post, since this is primarily a trad forum.
  5. Bumpity...
  6. Hi everyone, I'm a law student and I have an internship with an environmental group in Seattle for the summer. I'm cruising craigslist, but I thought I'd look for housing here as well. My ideal situation would be living in a house or apartment with a few other people, preferably in the Fremont/Wallingford/Queen Anne area, for easy access to downtown (where my job is) as well as the climbing gyms. Feel free to attempt to dissuade me from these neighborhoods if you think they suck. I'll be in town from approximately May 20th to August 20th. So send me a PM if you have something available, or know of anything, or reply if you have any other advice about living in Seattle.
  7. I can't believe the Northwest is sunny and nice while it's raining here in New York.... This seems wrong.
  8. Looks like a great trip! How many Snow Lakes do you think are in the Cascades? Or the country?
  9. Chocolate, cheese, bread and sausage. If it's good enough for the Swiss, it's good enough for me.
  10. Wait - do you mean 100mm? Sounds like a great trip!
  11. what a kickass TR...
  12. I've gotten few shoes resoled from Mountain Soles. My experience is that he may not be the world's fastest resoler, but he does a really good job, and the fact that you don't have to wait for shipping pretty much makes up the speed difference.
  13. What's the story with the mouse?
  14. Wow. Amazing pictures. I want to DO that this summer!

    I'm Coming Back!

That's a good point, but I'm only gonna be out there for a few months. My options are basically to buy a clunker and ditch it at the end of the summer, or bum rides off of people I meet, and use Zipcar or rentals for when I can't do that.

    I'm Coming Back!

You'd be surprised how provincial New York is. I'm incredibly excited to live somewhere where people don't think the world ends across the Hudson River.

    I'm Coming Back!

After two years of living in New York City, I've managed to secure a summer internship in Seattle! WOOO! North Cascades, here I come! But I have some questions about living in the Rainy City. My job is going to be right downtown, at 2nd Ave. and Cherry street. Further, I may or may not have a car this summer, so I want to live somewhere bikeable or busable from both work and the climbing gyms. Advice? What are the good neighborhoods? I'm young enough that being able to walk to bars and restaurants is going to be key. Other advice about living in Seattle generally? I lived in Portland for two years, so I'm familiar with the Northwest in general, but not Seattle.
  18. That's cause those floppy little skis suck at ice. You need these: [img:left]http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/60000211/Images/16/09AtomicSL12RaceSki155.jpg[/img]
  19. I don't know why I click on Chamonix TRs. I just get so jealous.
  20. Now that the Moxes have fallen, is the Heart of Darkness the new Last Great Project?
  21. Yeah the Solar Slab Gully is definitely not a walk-off. I've been caught out after dark there myself.
  22. Google Polls?
  23. I was on plane from DC to Chicago two years ago. Obama was on it, flying coach.
  24. That's awesome. Did you use Illustrator?
