I sure have bailed off a lot of climbs, so much so that sometimes I think I bail more than I summit -- usually do to bad weather or crappy snow, (or sometimes vaginal sand syndrome). My goal is to have bailed off of the top 100 peaks. Is this pretty normal for the cascades? Or am I just a giant puss?

while we're on the topic of berries, I missed my bus today because I was too busy foraging in a blackberry bush.

well, not the north cascades, but I ran into a crapload of hucklberries a few weekends ago schwacking up the Kelly Creek drainage on Pilchuck. Every time I would curse, berries would fall into my open mouth

OMG!! THE HUMANITY!!! Of course this happened in a vacuum and had nothing to do with geopolitical realities following WWII. It was ALL about oil. No, it was pretty much about oil, at least on the part of Britain. Look into it, the lid is pretty much blown off, there are plenty of books on it now.

I haven't done the traverse, but I've done the north peak. I don't remember how long it took us to get to the base, but it didn't seem like it took too long -- a few hours? We used a single rope on the ascent, and double-rope raps for the descent lots of 4th class bushwhacking. have fun!

How was your meltdown? I pulled kid duty all weekend, so mine was pretty subdued, but my wife sure partied hard! I think she's still recovering.
