  1. Uhm, like my dad!
  2. Thanks! But I think the plan right now is to go "pet-less" for a while. With the exception of the house trained Rooster name Charlie, its sort of nice having some freedom from animal responsibilities. How many birds do you have?
  3. No, we usually leave the birds cage door open so she can come and go as she pleases. So its our fault. Not really the rat's.
  4. Well, the guy certainly looks like a killer rat.

    Hendrix

"Are You Experienced?" was the first CD I ever owned.
  6. When I was 12 my mom gave me the Jurassic Park "Big T-REX" toy. This thing was so realistic, it had a plastic skeleton with a rubber body that made it feel real to the touch and even move like a real dinosaur. Plus, it roared when you squeezed its belly! I was stoked.

    Killer Rats

So, a rat broke into my Cocoteal's cage last night and tore out her thoat. Anyone else have experience with scary rodents?
  8. Dude, you're DIALED.
  9. Whenever I do these I raise the blood pressure so high in my skull that I begin to fear aneurysm and possible death.

    Frodo failed

    Kevbone just got ripped!
  11. Thats the plan. My only concern is that I haven't "treated" this rabbit like a wild animal. Meaning, she hasn't been taught to fear humans and other animals. So I'm concerned that if I release her where I found her she'll be easy pray.
  12. UUUUUUUUhhhhhmmmmmm, YEAH, she sort of IS a wild cottontail. I found her a few weeks ago out highway 20. She looked super weak and completely dosile, and when I went up to her she wasn't affraid. I might be wrong, but this usually means an animal is not well! Because she was so valnerable, my gf and I decided to take her home with us and try and build her up a bit. Its been three weeks and she's starting to gain weight and look super healthy. Because she is a wild breed, she probably wouldn't make the best house pet, so I'm thinking of taking her back to the wild in a month or so.... She is so damn cute....... She just bounces and flops and flails around my house like there are lizards eating her toes! My only dilemma is that she deposits black pellets EVERYWHERE, and sometimes leaves a pool of chalky urine. Yep.
  13. What if we all took on the European way of getting work done? In Italy, people who work more than 40 hours/week are called IDIOTS! I think there is something deeply wrong with our culture - we embrace people who ignore health in their attempt to make another dime. I'm nat calling anyone an idiot, just that I think we should all change.
  14. wiser You two must be.
  15. Doesn't that SUCK? Its my philosophy that work should never HAVE to get in the way of taking care of one's self.
  16. I actually do not find these pictures that "gross", its just anatomy after all! That first picture is great, you can see basically all of the pronators and wrist flexors. Also, looking at live tissue like that is such a difference to cadaver tissue! It really gives us an idea of the true physical nature of our muscles. On a serious note, what an amazing story! Just think about how close that kid came to losing his arm or even dying... Mad props to the surgeons who gave his life back.
  17. No. Her name was Racheal.
  18. There was that guy who climbed Olympus in like 11.5 hours round trip....... I USED to think a lot of mountains take more than a day, but now I think its just a matter of how hard you want to suffer.
  19. I got myself a new buddy last week. Does anyone know how to potty train these things?
  20. Yeah, probably NOT.
  21. fleshlight. Or not. What is "fleshlight"? OK, just Google it. A freind of mine recently mailed one to me, and dude, it freaked me out so much I mailed it straight back. But maybe you are a different kind of guy than I am! Tell me what you think AFTER you google it.
  22. Another question: Some of the more recent literature I've come across says that when it comes to heart disease risk, processed sugar far outweighs saturated fats. In fact, I'm pretty sure that humans require saturated fats for life (if I'm wrong, please inform). I think the difference is that massive quantities of excess sugar is either converted to cholesterol in the liver which raises blood cholesterol so high that it gets all gummed up and sticks to vessel walls, or turned into triglicerides and stored. Either way, too much sugar increases blood lipids. But what about simple saturated fats then? My intuition says that if we don't go super overboard with them most of them are used for energy or integrated into structural molecules (like membranes and hormones). So this would go back to just "eating balanced". Right? So basically what the heck are we supposed to do? I'm feeling a big plate of eggs coming on right about now....
  23. YES! I'm pretty sure there is a big difference between people who "exercise" and those who "live active". Most people I know don't ever exercise if it is not a regimented part of their day. On the flip side, I've recently spoke to an epidemiologist who looked at the health status of people who stay active all day without ever going to a gym, and also those who stay reasonably sedentary except for their hour long "workout". The generally active people seem to squire far greater health benefits and longevity. This information has really changed the way I think about fitness for sure. We don't ALWAYS need to exercise an for a [structured] hour every day. Rather, we can squire physical stimulation over the course of a day. I guess in the end it is all about health, right? So forcing yourself to workout despite being utterly shattered is probably a BAD IDEA! Exercise as much as you can without killing yourself. Then again, as you said earlier, practicing one's own advice is super tough.....
  24. Thanks Dan. I've been reading lately that the newest views on overtraining are saying that it truely IS an eating disorder. Basically, it only happens when raw materials, vitamins and minerals are not replaced quikely enough for the body to support current metabolism. One physician I chat with says that it would not happen if athletes were able to "stomach" thier training - meaning they need to be able to eat enough WHILE they exercise.. This understanding makes a lot of sense to me. I'm glad this thread is still alive, because I personally think that more athletes deal with some form of this more than we realize.
  25. Yeah, my question: sys versus cis; is the manmade saturated fat "more" solid than the naturaly type? I've also heard that hydrogenated oils can mess with membranes and DNA, what else do they do?
