Good stuff here. But, what exactly is a 'kipping' pullup? -
Traditional Workouts=Ice Climbing Strength?
tthirloway replied to scottgg's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
About the rotator cuff injuries from too many pullups: is that something that comes on slowly with warning signs or is it more of a sudden blowout of your shoulder? -
I second "Soldier of the Great War." It's a fantastic book. "Killing Dragons," by Fergus Flemming is pretty good so far.

You can find them at any hardware store or most gas stations. The grey ones are warmer than the blue ones, I think.

Any ideas on when that climb was done (at least what season)?

Anyone have Tuesday off? The weather looks decent. I was thinking about heading up to Snoqualmie Pass (ice, Chair) or maybe Leavenworth or Vantage; but I'm also open to suggestions. PM me or post here. tyler

Try the Black Diamond packs. I have the Sphynx 45 - it's lightweight, durable and most importantly, really comfortable.

What if you put your own bolts in? Then is it fair game?

If you have some free time or something specific in mind put a post in Climbing Partners; you'll usually find someone.

The Mammut Courmayeur pants have worked really well for me all year round. Not sure if they're still making them though...

Is that the gully in the Scurlock picture that dberdinka posted (#3?)? -
Has anyone ever climbed these faces in the winter?

Make it Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and you have a partner.

I'm renting a house in Tacoma (N. 11th and Proctor) and the lease starts June 1st, but I'll be out of the country from June through the middle of August, so I'm looking for a summer subletter. Nice house, full kitchen, lots of parking, 2 nice roommates, safe neighbourhood. Rent is $300 a month, plus utilities for your own room; dates flexible. If anyone is interested or has questions, PM me or email tthirloway@gmail.com. thanks, tyler

i forgot to mention that there are some good coffee places nearby: like exxon and safeway.

[TR] Graybeard- North Face [attempt] 5/6/2006
tthirloway replied to dbconlin's topic in North Cascades
We got near the summit via the NE ridge, then traversed left (to the south) and found some pretty easy slopes with just a little downclimbing on the east side of the mountain that led to a ridge above the basin. It looked like that would be the quickest way to get off the summit, though there were some steeper bits. It was too cloudy to be sure, but if you could get off the summit on the east side, there are good slopes to descend the rest of the way. -
That was probably OAR Northwest. Four guys from the University of Puget Sound who are rowing across the north Atlantic this summer. They're raising money for the American Lung Association and trying to set a world record. They've been supporting Erden and become pretty close with him. Check out their site OAR

first time posting pics, hope it works... Can anyone name the peak in these pictures (the one in the background of the second pic)? These shots were taken from the summit of Snoqualmie last week, looking towards Mt. Thomson. Any good climbing up there? thanks to Mike for the pics.
