  1. I hate the November fog that comes with it. Ugh.
  2. Actually, I have been feeling a little bit... hmmm.
  3. You're just all foul-mouthed today, DeC. Too much chocolate and coffee?
  4. '''Neurasthenia''' (also known as Neuralgia) was a term first coined by Beard in 1869 to describe a condition with symptoms of fatigue, anxiety and pessimism. It was explained as being a result of exhaustion of the central nervous system's energy reserves which Beard attributed to civilisation. In the late 1800s it became a popular diagnosis and led to rest cures. Physicians at the time frequently associated Neurasthenia with the stresses of urbanization and the pressures placed on the intellectual class by the increasingly competitive business environment. Typically, it was associated with upper class individuals in sedentary employment. It was a common diagnosis in World War I - every one of the c.1700 officers processed through the Craiglockhart War Hospital was diagnosed with neurasthenia, for example - but its use declined a decade later. The symptoms are similar to what is now termed fibromyalgia." Huh?
  5. BRB...have to look up "neurasthnia"
  6. I'll be drinking to good riddance to bad managers (aka "the time I quit after 2.75 days on the job" aka "shit, I'm going to be broke again").

With teeth like that, you shouldn't be eating chocolate. Hand it over to me. (And keep your mouth SHUT. Please.) Oh, and, the wedding's off.

    Will you marry me?
  10. Excellent idea! Let's do it.
  11. How do you know Gates voted for Bush? Did he say that in an interview or something?
  12. Pub Club tomorrow, 11/15 (Kurt, did I get the date right? Oh, maybe it should be November 15, 2005), at the Pumphouse in Bellevue. Address and map here. Maybe, like, 7:30 or so. Or whenever.
  13. Hitch a ride with AlpineK--he knows precisely where he is going. He's got a map.
  14. There is no physical way that 8th Ave NE is in Bellevue. Now NE 8th St. is one of the main drags in Bellevue. You call yourself climbers but you don't want to do any routefinding. Sheesh! I was just giving y'all a challenge. And that's the thanks I get.
  15. I think the Access Forum requires moderator approval before a post will go through, like the Events Forum. You cannot post at will.
  16. If only I hadn't wasted the best years of my life spraying on cc.com.
  17. We'll take all'a youse. So, choices. The Workshop is kitschy, a fun place, but more of a drive inland from 405--not bad if you follow 520 down into Redmond; a couple of blocks off 520, across from Redmond Town Centre. I think it has darts? And smoking. The Pumphouse is easier to get to--3 blocks off 405 on 8th Ave. N.E. It's no smoking, darts, I think. "Cozy." Shouldn't be too crowded on a Tuesday, though. There are others in the Bellevue area, but I've never been to them (except for the 8th Street Bar and Grill, which was so-so--not much atmosphere). So...whaddya think? I'm thinking the Pumphouse, b/c Seattle folks will be coming over. We want to get 'em right in and drinkin'.
  18. I've found that Gore-tex overmitts work well at keeping the wet stuff out (I've used them for winter scrambling and climbing--not skiing). Another option is neoprene gloves. I picked up a pair at Mountain Equipment Coop in Vancouver several years ago. They're like a wet suit for your hands--your hands get wet, but they stay fairly warm. Might be worth a try.
