  7. The last, turd in any context, may be construed as the "climbing turd" comensurate with its determination to refuse separation.
  8. If you attend a costume party in Bellevue, and attend in dress indigenous to Bozeman, be sure to where a label indicating an intent to portray you're from Enumclaw. Dressing as an anonymous hick may be deemed insensitive culturally.

  17. As far as appropriateness of your modification(s) as concerns structural strength/integrity, I'd contact the manufacturer directly. But, to minimize break-out when drilling, follow AR_Guy's recomendations AND pilot the hole first with a smaller diameter bit (perhaps two pilots in increasing diameters), then chase with the finish size bit. Depending on your application, you may need to slightly chamfer the hole openings.
  18. Syudla and I happened upon Ouray one weekend when Chicks With Picks were holding a clinic. The wimmens were being instructed by the top female climbers in the sport. All seemed to be having a great time; in part, due to the absence of men. I think it's a great way for women to learn to excell in the sport (and climbing in general) as the participants learn techniques not predominant on upper body strength. I took an ice climbing clinic from Kim Reynolds and learned techniques that improved my climbing and immediately extended the limits of my stamina. There was a clinic being held by Jack Tackle on my left (Syudla was in that one) and a clinic held by Conrad Anker on my right. Initially, I was jealous of the participants in the other clinics, but soon realized Kim was at least as qualified as the others in WI climbing instruction. I recommend participation without any hesitation for my part.

  22. From an email received: Dear Ice Climber: How time flies. Can you believe that another ice climbing season is almost upon us? We’ve been busy all summer getting the Ouray Ice Park ready for the 15,000 climbers that use it annually. Here’s what we’ve been up to while you’ve been out rock climbing, kayaking, trail running and mountain biking: - Trail maintenance - Fixed Line Installation - Safety Signage Installation - Pressure Testing the Water System - System Maintenance - Expanding our merchandise program and online store - Preparing for the 2007 Ouray Ice Festival - Finalizing the land swap with the USFS, private landowners and Ouray County. This will put all of the ice park into City Ownership by October 2007 !! - Torque tested all of the existing bolts in the Ouray Ice Park replaced any worn or suspect anchors. The 12th Annual Ouray Ice Festival will be held January 10-15, 2007. For information visit www.ourayicefestival.com We are beginning our 2007 Membership Drive Campaign as of this mailer. This year a membership costs only $40 dollars for the entire climbing season. This year, local businesses will again be offering substantial discounts (like 20% off lodging) only to members of the Ice Park. Someone estimated that, by receiving these discounts, it only takes a two-day stay in Ouray to get back the $40 that your membership costs. Help support the world’s greatest free ice climbing asset with your contribution. For more information, visit www.ourayicepark.com or call Erin Eddy at 970.325.4288.
