    Mt Adams

Welcome to CC.com, where everybody (well most) flames everybody (and puts down their objectives) until someone gets hurt, then the are all like: be careful out there people the mountains are dangerous! My advice: Spend the night and enjoy the views.
  4. False. Some federal employees do have collective bargaining rights.
  5. Cops in toboggans. I wish they had video.

  8. Not now, but before the original post, for sure. Also, is there a differnce between the NW and N side? I thought the 1904 NW route went to the top. At least it did when I climbed it. But maybe it doesn't count as it is on the NW side not the N side.
  9. I bought most my rack at Climbmax. I climbed with a guy in J-tree who had never heard of them, but had to have their shirt based on the name alone! I loved that they offered custom sewing onsite (while you wait if a small job). I don't know if that is still available. They said they had an old German lady in the back who did the sewing. She was the best! I thought it was a joke, but maybe it was true. I have no hard feelings towards ClimbX, I just thought this stuff was funny. Put out a good inexpensive product and people will buy it. Period.
  10. If not I vote for, The Impostor!
  11. LEEERRROOOY!
  12. Before this photo I hadn't really thought about rewoven versus retraced. But the picture makes perfect sense. Thanks!
  13. Mark, buy a rigging knife with a marlinspike! Forget about the fids... Also, a neat knot is a happy knot. Sloppy knots are harder to untie.
  14. My guess is all of them remain standing. What is the history of dedicated climbing gyms going out of business? Just curious. I think the viaduct-tunnel project is going to help SBP. At least I don't plan on driving to VW or StoneGardens from West Seattle once the viaduct is shut down.

  16. I agree with you 100% but doubt this guy would do the community service without the possible 'salvage'. I am not for violence. If you thought that it was assumed. I asked if jacking draws and violence were similar in some way. I don't understand the pro jacking draws, but con violence argument, from a logic standpoint. Excellent quotes Kimmo.
  17. We have different definitions of "caught". At some point it could be argued as community service, especially if the gear is actually unusable. But an enlighten individual such as your self should understand modern civilized society doesn't except just taking property. It has to be turned over to proper authorities and an attempt made to return it. Failing to do so negates the finders right to claim it if later the owner can't be found. Which is it? Which set of rules are you arguing? Written or unwritten rules?
  18. I doubt this guy would bother if that was his option. He doesn't seem like the community service type. Should they be like: I am glad we saw you before you left. Can we please have our gear back? Doesn't the violence thing work the same way as jacking draws? As long as you don't get caught... It's theft, plain and simple. Do you really support people jacking fixed draws (not returning them)? Clearly this was the guy's intention.
  19. That a good catch! My 2 favorite quotes: 1. "How hard is that?" "Ah, not too bad. It's practically a bolt ladder." 2. "So you are stealing my draws?" "Not if you are here, no."
  20. I don't see anything left schedule for 2010: http://www.savemadrone.org/
  21. Anyone intrested in a lap up the corner? I want to take a friend with no experience. Looking to swing leads between 1st and 3rd, or i can lead it all. I am on the road. Please call. Thanks. Ken 206 459 3453
  22. I have one and I think it is very easy to use, but that's becasue there aren't many functions. You can borrow it if you want to try it out. Just take me out climbing again and I will bring it along. I have bought 2 ABC watches in the past and both have failed. I want an ABC watch you can wear around your neck like a coach's stop watch. Anybody know of an inexpensive watch like that???
  23. I have tomorrow and Firday off and am loooking for someone to hang with. I have BC skies (this is my 2nd season) , splitboard (I'm okay) , and snowshoes (as a last resort). I've been getting back into shape, but I am a pretty lazy dude in general, so don't expect too much... I'll buy a beer and burger for you afterwards if we haven't hung out before (maybe even if we have). Thanks for looking. -Ken
  24. There seems to be a biner implied on the lower piece... 2-Biner Chain Technique (I don't know what it is really called): Rack aiders on the bottom biner of 2 biners chained together. Clip 2-biner chain to high piece. Clip rope to top biner on low piece. Clean bottom biner on low peice with aiders attached. Re-rack aiders and biner onto a loose biner recreating the 2-biner chain. Repeat. If you happen to need to add a sling for rope drag add it as you leave the piece. Not all pieces need extension, especially on vertical cracks. If your high piece was racked as a single and already has a biner, then break the chain on you rack and recreate the chain on the cam. When doing this you save almost 2 moves per piece and never have to deal with a loaded wire or sling; the top biner takes the pinch. You do lose 1 biner length per piece but the gain in speed makes up for this, imho.
  25. I have been to RR 5 times. 4 times I camped. Last time I stayed at the Las Vegas Casino/Hotel in Oldtown. I will never camp in Vegas again (it sucks for tents). The hotel wasn't scary, just old. I think I paid around $35-45 a night. Easy access to the highway. It was 15 minutes from hotel to the start of the loop. Light show at night, good food, street performers, and the fetish pit (black jack). Fun times!
