I thought I could hang skiing with Dave and his friend Mike. Which obviously I couldn't. Lesson learned! I will be in full force by spring so come on up then if you want! I have a place where you can crash if needed...

I waffled back and forth about coming down due to the weather forecasts, then Sat morning I decided it was a go. Dave and I met Jim and Larry on route; the first and only other party to climb it that day. First time climbing for me in 3 months, since my knee surgery that resulted from a previous excursion with Dave. Seems to me the park service could at least wait until Monday; closure starting Feb 1st or the first weekday after kinda thing. I mean they had the closed sign up by 5:30 pm on Sat!!! And, it looked like Ben was coming to put the sign up around noon, when we were just getting started. Oh well, I had blast!!!

Use the sequence as a limit on the distance between bolts (not the overall elevation), and you cover both G-spotter's and Billcoe's points well. It already does. The limit as N -> infinity, where N is the number's position in the sequence; G.R. = (N+1)/N or N/(N+1) (depending on which ratio you are interested in). Any sequence of the form (N+1) = N + (N-1) does...

I have moved to Seattle and am looking for partners. I am going to get a membership at Stone Gardens (I have been to both gyms and prefer SG), if you want to meet up, but I am really looking to get outside. My conditioning is improving each week with riding my bike to work (10 miles round trip) and going to the rock gym. Right now I am happy to do some scrambles or technical climbs up to 5.8. I have all my personal gear needed. I did an ice climb with Bala last year and it was a blast! He lead all pitches. I am looking to do some more snow/ice this season. I have skiis as well. If you need a partner, I am free starting next weekend. Drop me a PM if interested. I just got internet hooked up at home and will be sending PMs to those already posting for partners. Thanks for looking. -Ken Previous thread: http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=57339&Number=765609#Post765609

I am moving to Seattle starting the 18th. I am packing up my apartment right now and internet access is about to go. So, I just wanted to let everyone know, who is interested, that I am living out of the truck until the 15th and am looking for hiking/climbing partners until then. I packed up most my alpine and overnight gear, so I am mainly looking to do day trip cragging. I will be in the Hood River area starting Sunday night; I need weekday partners. Thanks. -Ken P.S. I cut the hair, if that matters to you. 509 301 5518 (my only form of communication for now)...

I didn't think the milk and cookies we ate at the base would hit me like that, but then I had a cigarette...

Are you ready to hear me wine some more? I got tools and am ready to flail.

I climbed with Dave at Smith and met a couple really cool folk. Got some laps in and feel a little more athletic. Where you going wandering? Let me know next time your my way.

I am still looking- no partners for tomorrow or Sun. I am planning on some snowshoeing near Joseph, OR. No plans beyond this weekend. If you need a partner, I'll buy dinner first time out...

What's your MOS? I just wonder because it took me (11B) years before I even wanted to backpack or camp again. We joked when I was in, that the Army could make you hate anything you previously loved, including food. You sound really motivated, if was in better shape I would join you. I need to work up to that climb. Take care. -
Bluewood/Dayton Ice conditions??
112 replied to pup_on_the_mountain's topic in Central/Eastern Washington
I tried to insert myself into Kevin's circle once, but was unsuccessful. I met him on a Smith trip. Thanks for the beta. I have climbed at the Dikes once, but I thought they were farther up the road from the Bluewood's turn-off??? It appears I was 1.1 miles short... -
It won't... I am currently working on LoMo projects. I haven't been to Goose in a while.

Bluewood/Dayton Ice conditions??
112 replied to pup_on_the_mountain's topic in Central/Eastern Washington
Sadly, I had that beta on Sunday and still failed. Haha. -
I actually stood you up like a year or two ago. It was raining - glad you aren't holding that against me. Exploring Idaho would be ideal, but Idaho beta seems as hard for me to come by as Montana beta. I have some hand written topos of Lightning Dome (from Hyper-spud, ID), but have never climbed (visited once). 48 is not old. Joseph schools me every time I climb with him and he is older than that! PM sent...

Bluewood/Dayton Ice conditions??

That figures! I went out on Sunday to see if anyone was around, and I didn't run into anyone. I also didn't see a fat Weeping Wall. I must be totally off! I drove to Bluewood and back to mile marker 13 twice, finally parked at the pullout around mile marker 17 with the bathroom on the left as you drive up the hill (parking for like 5 cars). Crossed a bridge and hike for a mile or two. Eventually found some frozen seepage to climb on, but not fat ice. And, I didn't see anything standing at my car. Am I blind? It is suppose to be totally visible from the road, correct? What pullout did you park at? Can I tag along with your group sometime? -
Dave/Ivan, let me know when you want to climb and we will do it! I got a dance card that is going unfilled and I want to change that.

My name is Ken. I am 35, single, employed, with no other commitments. I live in Walla Walla, WA. I have been rock climbing for the past 8 years. I started at Portland Rock Gym (PRG), and have been climbing outside for 7 years. I drive 3 hours standard. Dirtbagging it is fine by me. Paying for service isn't out of my financial means either. I grew up skateboarding, joined the Army at 18, earned a certificate from Diver's Institute of Technology (DIT) in Ballard, WA, worked at a utility truck fabrication shop, left and became a residential framing contractor, returned to school at 28, and am now settling into a career. I am looking for partners. Ideally it would be 1 or 2 people. Right now I am willing to "interview" (first climb) with as many people as are interested. I want to climb ice, never have really, but I just bought Kurt Hicks' tools if you are into that whole Karma thing and you like Kurt (I don't know him). I have snowshoes on order and plan on picking up an Alpine Touring setup after the season so I can get a deal. I am willing to rent a couple times to get out skiing. When summer comes I want to focus on rock. I went to Red Rocks twice this last year, but haven't full filled my desires in either trip (we climbed 5.7 max - Tunnel Vision, we did the variation pitch, not the OW). I am a bit out of shape at 6'2" and 222 lb. My ideal weight is 185 lb and I was almost there 2 years ago, but with then new job and no steady partner I become lazy. That is right, at the heart of me, I am lazy. But when I am in shape, I love the feeling of exercise. Ice - No experience Snow - Limited experience Rock - Multi-pitch up to 5.10, 500 feet-ish (I currently lead 5.8, but use to follow 5.10 comfortably. I have lead a couple 10's but not many) Drop me a PM if interested. If you need more infomation, f*ck off!
