SnowByrd replied to gapertimmy's topic in Events Forum
sounds like the iffy Doppelbock might be a welcome addition. even if it pales in comparison to TG's yummy stout. Damn...I wish I had some whiskey casks lieing about...I'd age it for a while....Yum! Detonator! -

I'm going to bring a keg of my doppelbock as well...IF it turns out. We'll see....if not, I can water the lawn with it -
Where is it supposed to be? Can Newbies show up and at least watch?
-
Circus sounds fun.....I'd do it. Would the older kids like it? We've got some teens coming, it looks like.

LEAVENWORTH! LEAVENWORTH! LEAVENWORTH! R&D Route....weather looks pretty good. Vantage is the backup plan. When we work out the details, we'll post again so anybody who wants to come out can just show up. We're goin climbin...we're goin climbin....we're goin climbin Sorry, I sound like a total DORK, but this is my first trip beyond Exit 38! So I'm excited.
-
I'm sure they'd love to. Do they need climbing shoes?
-
Thats the kewl thing about the partners forum....it doesn't matter what gender you are....you get responses from people who just want to climb, regardless. I learned that lesson already and had a great time climbing with the boys who didn't even know I was a girl until we met in the parking lot! I'd definitely feel very comfortable posting on here looking for a climbing partner (s). Its true though....the more you know, the more valuable of a climbing partner you are. Good Luck Breezy D and make sure you post pics and a trip report.

True True! Simona said Vantage so I thought that was the plan. The weather looks good for both places and Vantage was the backup plan. I don't know either place and I think the idea here was to get in some mulit pitch climbs and possibly learn a bit about Trad? Sellkirk is in charge....so is it Leavenworth fer sure then? We need to plan to get a camp spot.
-
so we shouldn't go to Vantage then?
-
We're going to Vantage because its dry and has something for everyone. Leaving Friday sometime and staying at least overnight. Please PM either Sellkirk, Myself, or Dryad for details. All are welcome.
-
so whats the count so far?
-
Kewl...either way, we'll block out that weekend as a climbing one No matter where it is or what the cost Although, since I started, I'd have to say that almost every weekend has become a climbing weekend.
-
We'll Definitely be there....please don't cancel it
-
Heya Sellkirk...we've already talked about this and you know I'm in Anybody else?

COMING: Snowbyrd and Micah (10) We're so excited!

Place to eat/drink between Issaquah and Exit 38
SnowByrd replied to dryad's topic in Climber's Board
Yeah, I don't know what the Hell I was smoking or thinking....it's still there. Somebody told me that it was replaced by some BBQ restaurant but I've lived in Issaquah for the past 5 years and the same two restaurants are still there....side by side. I just drove by and checked it out. Hmmm...anyways, I stand corrected. So, back to the original question, the Joker Pub is pretty good. -
She's purdy Happy Birthday Snugtop!

Jay Berry's is no longer...its been replaced by the Wildwood Bar and Grill. I haven't been there yet. -
Wow! That response might just be the most informative and helpful thing I've seen on this site! I appreciate your taking the time to interpret my questions in the way a newbie would ask them (like I don't even know what the Hell to ask) and explain your answers in a way that I could understand them. Thank you for taking the time to actually read the post and respond with answers that I can use. Thats rare on here. You can bet your left nut that I'll definitely take you up on your offer to join you Thanks Again!

I think I already have a pretty good idea of what people are going to say, but since I know nothing about ice climbing, I'll as it anyways. Is there a natural transition from sport climbing to ice climbing? It seems that they are really nothing alike at all and the things you learn when starting out in sport won't really help you when attempting to learn ice other than the basics. I've been warned away from ice climbing by several people....any reason for this? If I wanted to learn to ice climb, do I need to be a really experienced sport climber? WHat are hte conditions and season around the PNW for ice climbing? How does a person actually begin to learn to ice climb? Thanks in advance for all the answers....

This is a GREAT thread, by the way. I've found it immensely helpful. Thanks to everybody who posted and to everyone else for not polluting it with spray. I'd like to add to it with another question. Is there anywhere close (within an hours drive) that a person can start to learn multipitch? There are a couple of easy ones on E 90 but those don't really count.
