Maybe I am insane, but I assume customer service is a crucial part of any business. The three times I've stopped by the Seattle store, the punks behind the counter simply couldn't be bothered to stop yacking about getting wasted and/or "sick park sessions" to acknowledge the fact that a customer was actually in the shop and wanting help. I will happily steer people elsewhere.

Pro Ski in N Bend is still run by Martin Volken and is highly recommended (the ski tech, Caley, knows his sh*t). The Seattle location isn't, and it shows (shopkeeps are too busy "bro-brahing" to interact with lowly customers). Second Ascent also does a great job mounting D'fits. Marmot charges double what they should.

Why is Arcteryx the only company making serious ski bibs? Patagucci, THF, others used to make sweet ski bibs, now it is all just pants...am I now just another angry old guy like McCain? Second Ascent has piles of superb used almost new bibs- in women's, and men's small. Arghhhhh!

Biggest issues are the 900+ inches of snow (even with skis, trying to move uphill in nipple deep drifts? you'll be puking after 10 minutes), serious avalanche dangers, etc etc. And in a serious blizzard whiteout (not just fog) your GPS and wands are not going to help. Snowcave for 4 days? That's your option.

The fact that there are plenty of real hardmen and women in the area, and very very few winter TRs should tell you something! Just getting to Muir in the winter can be nearly impossible. Not to say you shouldn't try, but it is a whole other type of endeavor than a summer stroll.
